Why Christian Bale Declared Leonardo DiCaprio His Nemesis It's a competitive world out there in the acting industry, and the fight for roles led to Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale's one-sided rivalry. How can people keep track of which celebrities are beefing nowadays? Feuds between stars often arise for various reasons, whether they were involved in infidelity scandals with the other person's significant other or were just plain rude on-set with both the crew and cast. Actors can also develop a rivalry in competition for sought-after roles in the film industry. Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio are two decorated actors with a history of taking their roles multiple steps beyond normal. Bale tends to lose or gain exponential amounts of weight in preparation for a film, like his 62-pound weight loss process for The Machinist. On the other hand, DiCaprio took weird to the next level when he slept in an animal carcass and ate raw bison for The Revenant. Surprisingly, Bale and DiCaprio weren't in a competition to see who was stranger but for film roles. Both Bale and DiCaprio became involved in the acting industry at a young age. After a minor role in the 1986 film Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna, the film's star, Amy Irving, was married to Stephen Spielberg and recommended 13-year-old Bale for Empire of the Sun. DiCaprio came up a bit later in the game than Bale but received a lead role alongside Robert De Niro at only 19 years old in the 1993 film This Boy's Life. This Boy's Life was the beginning of Bale's one-sided competition with DiCaprio. Bale's former publicist Harrison Cheung published a tell-all book titled Christian Bale: The Inside Story Of The Darkest Batman in 2012. In the book, Cheung recalled how DiCaprio's name burned Bale like a "branding iron." This Boy's Life was when Bale began losing roles to DiCaprio. This trend continued throughout the 1990s. Bale also lost the role of Arnie Grape to DiCaprio in the 1993 film What's Eating Gilbert Grape? DiCaprio chose to star in the film alongside Johnny Depp -- for which DiCaprio was nominated for his first Oscar -- instead of taking the lead role in Hocus Pocus. DiCaprio and Bale almost had the chance to star opposite each other in the 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. Bale read for the part of Mercutio, but the production crew decided to go with an African-American actor for the role instead. While DiCaprio's career began in the early 1990s, his life was forever changed following the popularity of James Cameron's 1997 historical epic Titanic. Multiple actors from different levels of fame were considered for the role of Jack Dawson -- including Bale. While Claire Danes almost starred, they decided on British actress Kate Winslet as Jack's love interest Rose DeWitt Bukater. Cameron didn't want two British leads for the film, so he sent Bale away. Finally, Bale one-upped DiCaprio when he received the lead role for the 2000 film American Psycho -- which DiCaprio had expressed interest in. Both Bale and DiCaprio eventually developed established careers in the film industry. DiCaprio just launched into stardom a bit earlier for Titanic. Bale got his chance at fame when he gave a spectacular performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. As for future roles, Bale will play Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder -- which will be released on July 8. Bale and DiCaprio have never starred in a film together, but DiCaprio was the executive producer of Ridley Scott's Out of the Furnace, which Bale starred in. While Bale and DiCaprio's one-sided rivalry dates back decades, it's unclear if any animosity continues today. Source

I mean... am I the only one who's seeing some parallels here? Never noticed before Leonardo Dicaprio as Howard Hughes in The Aviator (2004) and Jack Dawson in Titanic (1997)- Leonardo DiCaprio - (Please Read First Post Prior to Posting)

How Robert De Niro Almost Starred in Titanic James Cameron's Titanic arguably launched Leonardo DiCaprio to stardom, but an even bigger actor (Robert De Niro) almost made an appearance. James Cameron's Titanic may have been three hours long, but Leonardo DiCaprio gave a spectacular performance as Jack Dawson, which dramatically altered the actor's life. Fan theories even spread about his Titanic character. Additionally, Kate Winslet shared captivating chemistry with DiCaprio as Rose DeWitt Bukater, but her role almost went to DiCaprio's Romeo + Juliet co-star Claire Danes. While acclaimed actors were already featured in Titanic, the film almost went with a much bigger star -- Robert De Niro. De Niro and DiCaprio had previously collaborated on the 1993 film This Boy's Life and Marvin's Room the year before Titanic. Even without De Niro, Cameron's Titanic still grossed an absurd amount of money and struck gold at the Academy Awards. The film was even re-released in 3D for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in 2012. The 1997 film Titanic followed the epic love story between first-class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater and third-class passenger Jack Dawson. Rose was engaged to 30-year-old Cal Hockley (Billy Zane) when she boarded the Titanic to solve her family's financial ruin after her father spent almost every cent before his death. However, Cal treated Rose poorly, and she found comfort in Jack. Rose and Jack began a relationship, much to her mother and Cal's objections. The new couple remained on the Titanic until the ship sank into the frigid waters of the Atlantic. Rose managed to survive the freezing temperatures, but Jack met his unfortunate fate, as they could not find a way for both to fit on the floating door. Years later, Rose recounted their ill-fated love story in 1996 after Brock Lovett and his team surveyed the Titanic wreckage in search of the Heart of the Ocean necklace. While Rose and Jack were largely fictional characters, some actual historical figures found their way into Cameron's Titanic -- like Captain E.J. Smith and Bruce J. Ismay. De Niro has starred in many genres but is largely known for his performances in gangster movies like Goodfellas. He was originally offered the part of Captain Smith before he was forced to turn down the role. De Niro had a nasty gastrointestinal infection at the time and was unable to fulfill his acting duty, per The Mirror. Bernard Hill was recruited to replace De Niro, who was arguably the better decision for the part. This is partly because Hill actually bore an uncanny resemblance to the real-life Captain Smith. While it was a minor role, Smith's final scene struck a chord with viewers in how he went down with his ship. A huge star like De Niro could have ultimately mesmerized viewers and distracted them from the character's important role in real-life and the film. Despite his inability to star in Titanic, De Niro still appeared in three films during the same year. Hill's performance as Captain Smith opened doors for his acting career. He later starred as King Théoden in The Lord of the Rings. Despite the countless actors who could have been in Titanic, the ultimate cast was rightfully chosen for the film. Another one I agree with also it's just a good list and choosing of all people Leo for the cover speaks volumes to me: There’s probably like 50 more people I could’ve added to this but I gotta give myself a minimum at some point. Also, these are the handful of people that comes to MY MIND first when thinking of actors who have effortless acting skills, overall. Just posting because Leo is already two times in his top 50 - also I like his little reviews Tarantino’s love letter to 60s Hollywood is maybe the best hangout film ever made and a film every cinephile should love. Almost everything about it is spectacular. It’s such a fun film to watch and it gets better on every rewatch. One of Tarantino’s best in my humble opinion. I can hangout with Rick and Cliff all day long. The film that won Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar. It’s way more than that though. Iñárritu crafted a compelling revenge story by taking us on an insane and brutal journey. It also has some of the most beautiful and unique cinematography I’ve seen in a film with amazing performances. And that final shot… c’mon man. Incredible film all around. How about a upcoming father/son duo on screen? They don't really look alike -beside from the strong eyebrow area- but making Leo a bit darker it would maybe work. For a 24 years old kid Jacob has a pretty intense presence/charisma something that remind me of Leo that age.- Leonardo DiCaprio - (Please Read First Post Prior to Posting)
And more important how old was Leo when he kissed a 11 year old!???? Hopefully around the same age- Leonardo DiCaprio - (Please Read First Post Prior to Posting)
WTH? Does this president has nothing better to do? Like rule a country? What a troll Brazil’s ‘forgiving’ president turns tables on actor Leonardo DiCaprio over climate concerns In true “bless your heart” fashion, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro told actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio exactly how he felt about outsiders getting involved in his nation’s politics Friday, rekindling a dispute three years running. As part of his never-ending pontification on climate change and the need to address it (through the means he deems appropriate,) DiCaprio took to social media Thursday to signal his virtue to the international community. In a short tweet, with a link provided to register ahead of May 4, the actor reminded the citizens of Brazil that their election was upcoming and the Earth was counting on the youth getting out the vote. “Brazil is home to the Amazon and other ecosystems critical to climate change,” he wrote. “What happens there matters to us all and youth voting is key in driving change for a healthy planet.” It wasn’t too long before the post earned the attention of the president who clapped back with a shot at DiCaprio’s ulterior motives and his connections, “Thanks for your support, Leo! It’s really important to have every Brazilian voting in the coming election. Our people will decide if they want to keep our sovereignty on the Amazon or to be ruled by crooks who serve foreign special interest.” “Good job in The Revenant!” Bolsonaro added, possibly as a reminder to the actor that he should focus on what he’s good at and leave the governing to those in charge. As to the remarks about “crooks who serve foreign special interest,” the Brazilian leader was undoubtedly referencing the onset of their dispute in 2019. After his election to the presidency in 2019, it had been reported that Bolsonaro was accusing charitable organizations of starting the wildfires that were damaging the rainforest at the time. In doing so, Bolsonaro called out the actor by name for donations to the groups he was holding responsible for the destruction. “This Leonardo DiCaprio is a cool guy, right? Giving money to torch the Amazon,” he said then. Bolsonaro alleged the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) used images obtained by volunteer firefighters after starting the blaze to help fill their coffers. “So what did the NGO do? What is the easiest thing? Set fire to the forest. Take pictures, make a video. [WWF] makes a campaign against Brazil, it contacts Leonardo DiCaprio, he donates $500,000.” “By the way,” he continued Friday once again referencing the previous accusations and further discrediting the actor, “the picture you posted to talk about the wildfires in the Amazon in 2019 is from 2003. There are people who want to arrest Brazilian citizens who make this kind of mistake here in our country. But I’m against this tyrannical idea. So I forgive you. Hugs from Brazil!” The WWF and DiCaprio denied the allegations at the time and Bolsonaro himself was taking heat for being in support of deforestation as a means to both prevent future wildfires and encourage development that would help lift his people out of poverty.
