ok to be clear i did not mean to ever imply she signed a VS contract out of the goodness of her heart all I am saying is that unless she has specifically said otherwise, she always struck me as being happy/content with her career choices and lifestyle whereas the original post that started this entire convo implied her career went terribly wrong from my perspective, being a big fan but not the most knowledgeable on everything candice, she just struck me as someone who was happy being with them, working less than others did, while enjoying her privacy and life with her boyfriend/husband (what happened leading to their divorce is irrelevant to this convo) and her children almost like she was always good being a loving wife/mother first, loving her privacy second, and on the side doing modeling for a major company she made the choice not to get into TV/movies or be very active on social media and I've always felt that is exactly how she wanted it to be. She just never, at any point, struck me as the kind to overly promote herself and show too much of her and her man, her letting loose, her fun personality, etc.

fair enough, thanks for the reply with that all being said, maybe she wanted to do exactly what she did and is happy with her career and her life? unless, of course, she has stated the opposite and I missed that Candice never struck me as the type to chase down immense fame and fortune.

ok cool guesses (no sarcasm, i appreciate the effort to explain, my comments/opinions: 1) VS was a HUGE company with an elite roster of models, I can't speak on whether it ate up "too much" of her time but I'd think being in their monthly catalogs and walking in their show while they were among the most popular companies was a good thing 2) I don't think it's a bad thing to stay off the gossip columns, and she had every right to be in long-term relationship with a guy she loved at the time. We saw how she got destroyed for the rumored relationship with Kanye. I, Personally, think it's good to not be sleeping around with bad guys. 3) This is a big one, no TV or film. 100% can understand this. I think it would have been cool to follow the career path of Heidi Klum. 4) Maybe 5) Personal choice, but don't think it meant her career "went so wrong" and she's entitled to privacy of course. Sometimes I think social media is very bad.

for those of us who are fans of hers, have been for years, but maybe don't know all details of her career as much as others like you... can you explain "what went wrong with her career"? cause to me, she's one of the most famous models in history, or at least of the last 2 decades or so who has been with several major companies so what is it that went so wrong?

nothing like a sexist man implying a woman needs to smile more to look pretty for him... good lord or are you implying she never smiles anymore, which isn't true or are you implying she's gotten old and doesn't look as good as she used to? your comment makes no sense at all, if you don't like her current look and she doesn't smile enough for you go to another thread and find a model who does

when you are famous, in public spotlight, on billboards and in magazines, people looking at you comes with the territory staring/looking at someone never caused harm to a single person now, if people were saying things to her or touching her in unwanted ways without permission that would be a entirely different story

If she really doesn’t like people staring she sure went into an odd profession. think we have all wished we were invisible at one time or another You decided to make a comment about reasoning to wear a mask for zero reason whatsoever. You speculated as to why. I simply followed suit. if wearing a mask was done so she could avoid being seen then I’d think she would want to wear it far more often, no?

She was in Hawaii last weekend shooting content for her best friend Elizabeth Turner's bikini/swimwear line. meanwhile, SI Swimsuit has started doing their 2023 photoshoots. I sure hope Christen is back with them this year (and lands the cover) EDIT: As a Rookie of the Year last year she is 100% guaranteed to return (I am an idiot for not knowing/realizing this before)

I bet she loved wearing a mask during COVID cause she has 2 young children and doing so helped them stay healthy. Ya know, if she's anything like the Person we think/hope she is, that would be the main reason for wearing a mask. She doesn't strike me as being so vain that she thinks people stare at her constantly so wearing a mask would be amazing and prevent that.

saw shannon at a restaurant last night, waited until her and friends were leaving then politely approached and called her name, she ignored at first, then her friend asked who i "thought" it was... I said, "aren't you Shannon McMullen, the Guess model?"... her friend, speaking for Shannon, said no and I said really? I am fairly certain you are... finally Shannon turned around and I complimented her work for Guess and said I think she is one of the most gorgeous women in the world. I politely asked if I could take a photo with her and she declined and implied I was rude for bothering her. I've met many famous models over my years in L.A. from VS angels to SI Swimsuit ladies and the vast majority are very nice and even flattered when approached and complimented, but Shannon ranks very high among the worst experiences I've ever had and it was quite stunning given her career is just starting and her "accomplishments" within the industry really aren't there at this point. Oh well, lesson learned.

it bothers me more than words can accurately convey that kim kardashian can just say "oh i have enough money to do this and include myself along with the most famous lingerie models in the world"... she doesn't belong in the same class as candice, alessandra or other VS angels

I really hope given all of Kanye’s awful a and hateful comments about Jewish people and others over the last week or so she has cut ties with him and his brand. He’s toxic and has obvious mental issues. Staying in business with him sends a horrible message at this point.

stop commenting/acting like you know her on a personal level, you don't... she seems a certain way in interviews/through photos and we all believe it and hope she really is that way sure... that's the candice we all love but you're talking like you're a close friend or relative in a comment like this "she's one of the purest souls of the industry"... c'mon man. think you and other are looking for too much info. in 1 photo for starters, couples don't need to sit right next to one another 100% of the time second, if the relationship is "really new" as the article says, it's possible when the photo was taken they weren't dating and then they started to afterwards as others mentioned, it is very possible it's just tabloid gossip and I really hope so for her sake, but if it's true her PR people/agency should get out some sort of comments now denying the report, a simple "we are not sure how the rumor began but it is false, Candice and Kanye are just friends and business partners and nothing more" would suffice I imagine but yeah if true it's just horrible, she could have any man she wants and past comments she's made suggest she is looking for someone the exact opposite of everything kanye is

obviously they still want to sell issues, they just feel they need to put someone famous on the cover ala playboy to get it to sell, hell there were several times playboy would put a celeb on who didn't even pose for them just to sell issues i think there are still attractive models in the issue just nowhere near how many there used to be and I am unhappy they cut ties with several over the years too soon such as barbara palvin and olivia brower, but there are still attractive women in it and putting one of them on the cover would be fine. I would love to see the sales on the kardashian cover compared to others in recent years.

thank you @albatross she is an outstanding woman i honestly think if they gave her the cover she'd get as famous as kate upton did last time i met her to get the photos above signed i told her she deserved it and i wasn't happy they put kim kardashian on and she laughed, said thank you and then... "they need to put a celeb figure on to sell the magazine"... unfortunate that it has come to this, SI used to make these models' careers skyrocket and turn them famous when they put them on the cover, even if they weren't as well known as others at the time
