Thank you for the scans! Even though everything's online, it's of course nice to see how they assembled the mag (and who got the most page-time...) Is the cover a fold out or is it just different covers on different mags?

It's funny because, between the two of them, I actually think Hailey has the much more interesting personality. Ashley is just more confident and outspoken. However, because Ashley is more hopped up and because the "big girl was forced to develop a personality; stereotypical blonde model is boring" narrative is very popular, I can see Hailey getting pigeon-holed and stigmatised as just another bimbo. Very unfortunate because I like both of them.

Thanks for posting all of those, Pretty Hailey: on paper, neither her face nor her body are really my taste, but she has a unique, weird sexiness about her that I really love. Thought she looked gorgeous and all-American. Nina: body is amazing, had some great shots. Her pictures felt nice on my eyes and were very naked, like every year I guess. Gigi: her body is a lot nicer than I remembered, made my Haterade look a little stupid. But still not a huge fan of her face, or her in general Hannah F: holy shit, what a babe. not even sure what else to say about that, except I want a gif of her doing a split and getting hit with that wave Hannah D: nope. nope. nope. her pics make me retroactively mad about her cover last year. totally undeserved. Chanel: I can see why people like her but she bores me Irina: why is this still happening Lily: lol wtf is this pretzel yoga bullshit posing? Erin: close-up headshots of her wearing that seaweed made me actually laugh out loud Chrissy: don't care what anyone thinks, I like her. Her boobs are glorious, especially in motion. But not terrible. Nice hair. Sam: looks better than her red carpet pics but her chest weirds me out Tanya: pretty/hot but why is having a nice hip-waist ratio no longer in style at SI???? (yes i'm an asshole) Rose: lovely, want moar Emily D: beautiful, beautiful face but I just don't care about her as a swimsuit model. would rather see her wearing clothes tbh... Robyn: ... Sofia: hot but I feel like I'd be screwed if someone asked me to pick her out of a lineup. Also can we not with the "sexy model poses near indigenous person" pics?? Kate B: pretty but doesn't move me Ashley: her body isn't really my taste (and I do like bigger girls pretty often) but I think she's got a gorgeous Eva Mendes-ish face. Still not into their cover choice. In general I prefer almost all of the "model search" girls to the actual rookies. I miss Emily Ratajkowski.

I know this isn't the right time but just thought I'd point out that a giant Huntsman has been living in our lounge since Christmas. He comes out after midnight and zooms around. He is really scary but kind of cute when you can see him moving around underneath the curtains. He looks like he could palm a basketball.

The photo they picked of Ronda was easily one of the worst. There were others (especially the smiling one) that looked miles better than the cover. WTF? I think Ashley looks really beautiful actually, except I'm not a fan of that gorilla sort of pose. She was also looking fine as a fox in that cover reveal video....

She has an offbeat kind of beauty and charisma, and I'm glad she was on one of the covers. Even though this probably isn't true, her cover looked like someone actually picked the photo they thought would make the best cover instead of picking a lucrative name first and then trying to make a cover "fit."

I don't have any problems with any of the cover models individually, but something about the way this was done feels kind of condescending and unfair to all three of them. Wouldn't it have meant more for Ashley to make some waves as a rookie and THEN get an "actual" solo cover some years down the road? This feels like one of those stupid multiple cover stunts that's pulled by mags like Elle or Glamour, where they have their "real" cover model (Emmy Rossum or whoever) and then stick their Mindy Kalings and Helen Mirrens on the alternate covers just to feel like they're honouring diversity on a technicality. Almost all of the rookies this year look exactly alike and equally forgettable. If SI really wanted to accept a diverse range of attractive women, then why not use a bunch of hot girls who actually all look different from one another? It's not hard to do, give me 5 minutes on Google and I can round up 10 amazing chicks who look nothing alike in face or body. The mag is just the standard collection of tall thin models, except with a couple token black, plus-sized or athletes sprinkled in. Something about this approach feels super patronising. Oh well, at least they didn't choose another dime-a-dozen it-girl twit who posts about "squads" and "your vibe attracts your tribe" on Instagram.

Indeed. I didn't want to break it to her, since she is already a lowly hot young wealthy famous supermodel. I am sure she will be devastated to find out that her face isn't my favourite out of all the god-tier women of the world.

Nina looks like a beautiful mermaid turned into a shy, fresh-faced bipedal maiden who wants to capture the heart of a human prince. Samantha looks like a Maxim model from 2001, almost solely because of the styling and makeup. WTF.

Although I think Gigi is very hot and would make a fine covergirl, the thought of her getting the cover over someone like Nina annoys me simply because it's such a blatant case of "who you know vs what you know." Personality-wise I've never seen her do or be a single thing that wasn't exactly the same as every other girl her age, and she's attractive but not markedly more attractive than any other current SI fave. Literally the only thing that sets her apart for me is that she started off in circle that came with built-in publicity and was easy to leverage into even more famous friends. I know people have complained about this plenty before, and life isn't fair, and magazines need to make $$ so they need famous faces. I recognise and accept all of this. I just can't promise that I won't ever be annoyed about it sometimes.

Sort of. She's pointed out all the things that she's doing that are supposed to "make people like her" according to execs and stylists, so we're getting pretty meta here. It's the same stuff that all celebrities do. The "down to earth" vibe has worked for her, so yeah she has probably started playing it up as part of an image in recent years. But her personality has been consistent since the first day she landed on the scene, and there are lots of aspects of it that can't be faked (wit, intelligence, understanding of film, ability to think critically and articulate it in a non-pretentious way).

I agree with Pink, getting attention and relevance is just as important for a lot of outlets. Drives traffic to their website, earns them followers on social media, etc. Print is all but dead so they're setting their sights on the new landscape, less profitable as it may be.
