^lol I thought the same thing And it's easy to feel superior and smug when no one is targeting you. Trust that 95% of people would eventually slip up if someone REALLY wanted into their shit. As someone who grew up on 4chan, I've done a 180 on how I feel about this subject and am glad we're moving away from the wild west version of the interweb. Oh and Kate's looking fab.

Can I take you out to dinner sometime? Sympathy, I agree that Kim K is hardly a feminist icon.In fact she sucks. I just think her recent selfie invoked a lot of sexist bullshit reactions, and people like Emily used it as a springboard for calling out the medieval shaming, which I think is wrong regardless of who it's targeting. Like, I think Tyler Perry blows, but if someone called him a racial slur, I'd be all, "wtf not cool at all."

Bella Thorne
She is so, so, so hot.

Kelly Rohrbach
I have to admit she was great on Broad City, and she seems to have a good sense of humour in interviews. She's better in motion, too. I am now a fan.

I think a lot of you have missed the point. It's fine to criticise people for being attention-hungry or pandering to the lowest common denominator, etc. But the reaction that Kim K got to her boring censored nude selfie wasn't just criticising her for being predictable or boring, which the picture was (although in that case why were people so incensed and eager to talk about it?), they were critcising her for being a whore. People said she was a bad mother, slutty, not "pure" and demure like a mother/wife should be. This article verbalises it a lot better than I could: http://www.playboy.com/articles/kim-kardashian-slut-shaming That logic is a holdover from a time that no woman should be eager to revisit. I do think a lot of it was directly related to it being Kim, who inspires a lot of hate in a lot of people for a lot of legitimate reasons, but Emily herself has gotten flack for posing naked (just look at this thread! In fact, look at Schemer a few comments ago. There's not really a basis for that opinion other than she posed for Frederick's and got naked a lot. Therefore = trashy. An irrational, backwards way of thinking). Emily is correct that people are screwed up in the head for attacking a woman simply for showing her body or being sexual. However, she hasn't done a great job so far of articulating her point and has aligned herself with a polarising figure who's famous for being famous. It's not the PR move I would have chosen but I have to give her credit for being true to what she believes.

She's not wrong, it's just not a great PR move to align yourself with a Kardashian.

^Definitely not! I almost feel a little bad for Kelly, this casting has set her up for some tough comparisons.

Japanese for wife, but because of weeaboo culture it's come to be a colloquial reference for a character or celebrity who emotionally immature people idolise and obsess over, usually seeing them as "purer" (i.e. more wifely) than the other dirty harlots. For real-life celebs, it helps if they're young and/or have a "girl next door" look about them. They can be sexually provocative, but they usually can't be TOO sexual or give the appearance of deliberately trying to turn people on. Generally a sex tape, nude shoot or marriage/kids are enough to break the waifu spell. Other common celebrity waifus: Emma Watson, perhaps the greatest waifu of our time Carrie Fisher back in the day (also because of Star Wars) Anna Kendrick Emma Stone Disney/Nick starlets when they're young and fresh, like Selena Gomez or Hilary Duff during their jailbait heydays Jennifer Lawrence sort of, before the Fappening

Her film career is worrying, Byrne hasn't done anything noteworthy and this doesn't sound like the most promising project. I guess it's hard to keep improving when you start out with a David Fincher right off the bat?

Well of course. But she's wearing a lot of makeup in those pics too. And I think people underestimate how hard it is to look good in harsh lighting and bad angles like bikini candids. We're so used to seeing hot celebs in those types of pics that we don't realise that mere mortals, or even your average hot Instagram model, wouldn't be able to compete in similar photos. She looks good, is what I'm trying to say.
