I meant funny in a "something's wrong but my pants are still dry so it must be something else" kinda funny <_< Somebody should look into the whole harrassing/provoking thing though. There's no point only punishing those who retaliate.

FIFA punishes players for retaliation. Retaliation would imply that you're reacting to something. Is it funny that FIFA don't investigate the cause of the retaliation?

Well, he is captain for Arsenal and with the old players retiring, there'd be a generation of young players, kind of like the Arsenal team. So it's an alright suggestion I guess... actually, it's probably more bad than good as there are a couple of problems. The most obviou6s would be the fact he performs for club but not country. Normally he leads by example and if he can't do that in a blue shirt then I guess there's no point giving him the armband. Another problem would be other potential candidates e.g. Vieira. The argument for him to lead coupled with his form and experience is much more convincing than Henry's. If there aren't any other candidates I'd support Vieira for captain Also, with Zidane and co. gone (again) what will Domenech do about the formation? Will he start guessing again and hope he gets the right combination by Euro2008?

well if I learnt my mum had a chance of dying and someone made a remark like that I know I'd go nuts. I don't I'd put any thought into whether or not they meant it. *pretends to be a rhino*

Apparently the Zizou incident all started after Materazzi nipple-crippled Zizou (can you spell queer?) Anyway, an argument started and somewhere in between Materazzi said something along the lines of "I hope you and your family die horrible deaths" Apparently Zizou found out his mum was seriously ill that day as well. If all the above is correct I can certainly understand why he reacted like that Alternative explanation: Materazzi said "I bet I can do a better impersonation of a rhino than you can!" and Zidane accepted the challenge.

Seriously, you'd think that after playing a decade of professional sport, that stuff would just roll off your back. I've heard some professional athletes from different sports talk about "sledging" (verbal harrassment) from opponents and how they cope with it. Many said that comments about their family and loved ones weren't offensive anymore. I thought it'd take something really offensive to anger Zizou that badly. Maybe he just has a really close realtionship with his sister?

I doubt that one moment will tarnish what he's done in his career I think he'll still be getting free beers and food all around France when he retires. I wish I was a god as well

Germany 3-1 Portugal good game (Y) Schweinsteiger was awesome, but I still don't like his antics off the ball. He's a total idiot that's obsessed with himself and a cheat :persuazn:

What's with English fans? They know absolutely nothing about the continent and still think they have a quality league. Well they do, but the tactics being used were atrocious. At least now it's all changing with the influx of better managers and even more foreign players.

Oh god... I'm in a Liverpool forum with people that only know about Pirlo now? And they have the nerve to say he's only good because he's had one good World Cup?

All three are good. It's amazing that Klose pops up once every four years. His timing is perfect Buffon has been solid and Ricardo was awesome with his penalties. He picked Zidane's as well  But it's rare that a gk would be player of the tournament.

Meh, I think we're going to use Alves on the right wing and maybe Gonzalez might get rotated there. If not we're still linked with Simao, Joaquin and Pennant. Joaquin won't come and Simao might be too expensive but Pennant is the most realistic option. He was the best crosser in the Premier League last year and he shouldn't be playing in the Championship

Who would you like Milan to buy? I think Buffon would be no. 1 on the list if I'm not mistaken Cannavaro maybe?
  25. red_ed replied to goose's topic in Sports
Cannavaro or Zidane Although Italy had a relatively easier passage and Zidane has been absolutely marvellous against the big guns. So I'll go with Zidane. FIFA prbably will as wel, just to promote the "beautiful" side of the game <_<
