  1. Hey, everyone. Just my very infrequent public service announcement. I know many of you liked voting in the SI Swimsuit Model Tournaments that I've run. I've begun a competition again. Link here: With regards to the 2017 issue, my wish list is: - Even less Photoshopping - Less makeup and fake tans - Better videos ... longer and more for each model... the 2-3 videos for a total of 5 minutes per model just isn't enough. - More use of Swim Daily for behind the scenes and/or unreleased photos. Goodness, that site sucks now! It's just a bunch of re-use of the same old photos and videos with useless stories. It was far better when they used to have unreleased photos and throwbacks. You have an archive of about a zillion photos, SI. Let the people see some!!
  2. Alright, everyone... the first matches are officially open for voting! See below. Use the link for each match to cast your vote. Voting for these matches ends at 10:00pm US Eastern Time on June 4. Check back after that time for results. Please vote only once. Duplicate votes will not be counted, even if it appears they have. Thanks so much for participating! 4. Hi, again, everyone! I've taken a nice long break and I'm ready to start up some more entertaining competitions involving my favorite topic: SI Swimsuit models, of course! I'm hopeful that I'll have the 4th annual SI Swimsuit Model Tournament in the fall, as usual, and I plan to shorten the tournament to eliminate the group matches, going back to a more traditional tournament format. Until then, I will put together a series of "friendly" matches (to use terminology familiar to you football/soccer fans out there!) The matches will be posted in this thread, and the results will affect the overall model rankings and eventual seeds in the 2016 tournament. I've used a modified version of Elo ratings based on the models' performance in the first three tournaments. For those interested nerds like me, here's a wikipedia link to the Elo rating system: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system The results of these friendly matches will affect the models' ratings and will help establish better ratings for newer models like the 2016 rookie class. The matches were done via random draw after first grouping models into classes. So, nearly every one of these matches will be between models of similar rank, and that should produce many interesting matches. Enjoy, everyone! I'll get started posting the first matches most likely tonight. ADD: The complete rankings for all 246 models is linked here. The rankings will be updated after each cycle of friendly matches is completed.
  5. This is exactly what I've said before. SI is clueless sometimes. Swim Daily is a useless retread of the same content. They have no original content anymore since Kelsey Hendrix took over posting. It's awful. The only original content are these casting videos, and we see the models in mostly black clothes... never a swimsuit. You're casting for SI Swimsuit! The site is called Swim Daily! SWIM!
  6. This is the best year ever for photos. They are very light on the Photoshop, FINALLY. All this talk from SI about celebrating women's natural bodies of all shapes and sizes would have been contradicted by heavy editing to make them all look "perfect". I think they may have finally gotten it right with Photoshop, at least from the limited set of photos I've examined thus far.
  7. Those are the ones! SI posted that link on Twitter, and lo and behold, the whole lot of videos are watchable. Nearly all, anyway. Their website is so horrible since that redesign a couple of years ago, so I love the fact that they can't get the thing to work properly enough to protect content that they don't want to be searchable.
  8. Umm... SI flubbed up. Some of the videos are online, even though they didn't mean it, since the site isn't live yet. Can I post a screencap of Nina? Is that legal, since SI themselves leaked the videos?
  9. One of the Swim Daily posts from this morning said that the website launches at 9am US Eastern Time on Monday.
  10. That would take a lot of work to answer... I have only recorded the percentages. Maybe someday I'll dig out the answer, but I need a break. Actually, I guess I need to ogle at a new batch of SI Swimsuit photos beginning tomorrow.
  11. I can't bear reading through more paragraphs about the people on here calling Ashley/Barbara names vs. those defending a woman's right to not be as thin as a traditional model. It is what it is. People are different, and let's accept it. Be nice, be respectful. The world would be boring if everyone looked the same. Personally, from what I've seen Ashley doesn't do much for me, but it's not because of her weight. I have plenty of SI models on that "doesn't do much for me" list, including the popular Gigi. So, for those who love Ashley, congratulations and enjoy what should be a great set of photos and videos for you. I want to bring the discussion back to someone who most certainly does it for me: Nina Agdal. Holy crap. I just saw the shaving cream ad this morning. I had let my scruff go for the past 4 days, but upon watching that 90 seconds of scalding hot Nina video, I immediately went to use my Edge shave gel and shave this morning.
  12. It varies, but it ends up somewhere between 50-125 or so. The ones involving more popular models or better matches tend to draw more. Bar won by two votes, so it was a nail biter!
  13. Knockout Stage - Championship Match #1 Bar Refaeli (50.9%) defeated #2 Marisa Miller (49.1%) My spin: Bar Refaeli has repeated as Champion of the SI Swimsuit Model Tournament! The 2014 winner takes home the 2015 crown after a very tight match against 2013 winner Marisa Miller. Bar certainly had to earn this year’s title against some very tough competition, as four of her final five matches were close ones. In three of those, Bar received less than 52% of the vote, but the only number that really matters is the 0 in Bar’s loss column! She’s the last model standing, and she improves her career tournament record to an astounding 22-1, with her only loss coming to Brooklyn Decker in 2013. Thank you all for participating in the tournament this year! I hope to be back next year for the 4th running, and I may actually start up some interim “exhibition” matches throughout the year. Final Knockout Stage Bracket: here
  14. Last day for voting! One of these beauties will be crowned Champion! Thanks so much for participating throughout the tournament. It's been fun, again.
  15. Hey, everyone. It's the Championship in the 2015 SI Swimsuit Model Tournament in this thread. Marisa Miller vs. Bar Refaeli Forgive the cross-post, but I was encouraged to do so once in a blue moon by some of the most respected members on here. As for my thoughts on Samantha Hoopes: My goodness, please back off the trashiness, for the love of SI Swimsuit. The magazine has such a long history of some of the finest women on Earth, and very rarely (never?) do they have models who look like adult film stars. Too bad, because I do agree that she's fairly pretty without the caked on makeup, and I'm sure her boobs pre-surgery were 10x better than they are now.
  16. The Championship match is now open for voting! Voting for the match is open until 10:30pm US Eastern Time on February 10. Use the link under the matchup to vote, which will literally take about a second to do. Please vote only once, since duplicate votes do not count. More information about the tournament, including standings, brackets, results, and all matches can be found here. Thanks for voting! ------- Championship Match: Marisa Miller vs. Bar Refaeli Vote: http://poll.fm/5jd7o
  17. The results from the Semifinals are in, and the Championship match will begin later today! Knockout Stage - Semifinals #2 Marisa Miller (53.0%) defeated #5 Brooklyn Decker (47.0%) #1 Bar Refaeli (51.6%) defeated #4 Nina Agdal (48.4%) #2 Marisa Miller and #1 Bar Refaeli will face each other in the Championship Match My spin: What a great couple of Semifinal matches we had here, as nobody got more than 53% of the vote in either match. The results setup a Championship Match between the only two models to have been crowned Champion already. Marisa Miller won the inaugural tournament in 2013, and Bar Refaeli won last year’s 2014 tournament. Nina Agdal goes home disappointed again, as she reached her third consecutive Semifinal Round but couldn’t finish the deal again. Bar sent her home unhappy in last year’s Championship, and she did it again to poor Nina this year. Brooklyn Decker has also been close twice, but she has now lost in both of her Semifinal appearances. So, who will win the Championship? Some food for thought: Bar beat Marisa in a close match in the Sexy Sixteen of last year’s tournament. Advantage: Bar. Also, Nina Agdal has lost to the eventual Champion in each year of the tournament, so her loss to Bar this year is telling. Advantage: Bar. My pick is Marisa! Despite all of the evidence to the contrary, I think this is Marisa’s year. But, clearly these two are evenly matched, and anything can happen! Current Knockout Stage Bracket: here
  18. Agreed 100%. Those certainly were the real glory days, before Photoshop existed and when there were fewer models but those that were in were made into stars.
  19. The Semifinal matches are now open for voting! Voting for these matches is open until 10:30pm US Eastern Time on February 6. More information about the tournament, including standings, brackets, results, and all matches can be found here. 20. The last two results from the Quarterfinals are in, and the Semifinals will begin later today! Knockout Stage - Quarterfinals #4 Nina Agdal (75.8%) defeated #6 Petra Nemcova (24.2%) #1 Bar Refaeli (64.9%) defeated Rose Bertram (35.1%) #4 Nina Agdal and #1 Bar Refaeli will face each other in the Semifinals My spin: Two of the top SI models, Nina Agdal and Bar Refaeli, flexed their muscles in these matches and set the stage for an epic rematch of last year’s Championship match. The Bar was finally too high for hotshot rookie Rose Bertram to hurdle, and Bar goes to her second consecutive Semifinal and still has a shot to repeat as Champion. Nina absolutely demolished a legitimate SI legend, Petra Nemcova, to advance to her third Semifinal in as many years. Nina has been close to the summit every year but has been unable to get to the top. This year, she’s looking like nobody can stop her, not even Bar, who beat Nina in last year’s Championship. Current Knockout Stage Bracket: here
  21. The first results from the Quarterfinals are in! Knockout Stage - Quarterfinals #2 Marisa Miller (58.4%) defeated Rebecca Romijn (41.6%) #5 Brooklyn Decker (50.2%) defeated #10 Irina Shayk (49.8%) #2 Marisa Miller and #5 Brooklyn Decker will face each other in the Semifinals My spin: The folks in America aren’t the only ones who witnessed a close vote today, as we witnessed an amazingly close match between Brooklyn Decker and Irina Shayk. Neither one was ever separated by more than a couple of votes, and Brooklyn got the last couple of votes to pull out a victory by the narrowest of margins! Brooklyn’s win makes it three straight trips to the Semifinals for her, and she’s hoping this one will be different than the previous two. In 2013, Brooklyn lost to Elle Macpherson. In 2014, she lost to Nina Agdal. In 2015, Brooklyn’s Semifinal opponent will be Marisa Miller, who had an impressive performance against Rebecca Romijn. The 2013 champion Marisa returns to the Semifinals after missing them last year, when she lost to eventual champion Bar Refaeli. So, we’ll have ourselves another awesome match in the Semifinals with two traditional buxom beauties battling it out. Can’t wait! Current Knockout Stage Bracket: here
