Toronto Life FASHION - Autumn 1977 Maura (McGaghey) Gahan was FASHION’s first cover model. It turns out we were also the last magazine she posed for. “It was for your 30th anniversary,” recalls Gahan, who lives in Montecito, Calif. “When you asked me to come back to Canada for the shoot, how could I resist? Wow! Has it really been 40 years already?” Gahan, who was born in New Brunswick and raised in Hamilton, Ont., was a famous Clinique model from the late ’70s to the early ’90s. During her career, she posed for Sarah Moon, Hans Feurer, Bruce Weber and Victor Skrebneski, but this shot by Malcolm Batty is one of her favourites. “There’s a timelessness to it,” she says. “I can still remember that day, and I can even remember what Anne Apor Verner was wearing. She had on a forest green cashmere top and bottoms that matched, and I thought, ‘What a stylish and beautiful woman.’” fashionmagazine.com

"Maura The Face of Clinique 1977" "Clinique was a very visible and popular cosmetic line in the 1970s. It was the first of the hypo-allergenic lines. I thought these photos of model Maura shot by Victor Skrebneski were particularly beautiful. I had the pleasure of making up Maura several times. I believe the first time was with the fantastic British photographer Barry Lategan. Maura has a different kind of look, a rather angular face with those amazing eyes, that made her a stand out among the other models of the day. Clinique is still a very popular line today from Estee Lauder, they just don't advertise quite as much as they did back then. Mostly you see their wonderful still life product shots but not so much an identifiable face connected with the line like Maura". "I love this later short haired look photographed by Stan Malinowski. I think Maura worked for Clinique for 14 years or so". facesplaceslipsticktraces-David Frank Ray

I think her jaw-chin outline is too triangular to be the same model. Really a mystery...
  16. Vittoria Belvedere, b.1972, was a model until she was 18, then became an actress. I don't know if it's her but she looks quite similar. In any case, it's a familiar face. archivioluce

Do you think Kristin Neubauer (Bauer van Straten) should be ruled out?
