there haven't been huge swings this year. compare today's percentages with where they were last week. every girl is within about 3-4% of where she was a week ago. seems about right.

but, but her MOM SAID SO!

This may be a consequence of rounding all the percentages up for display purposes. For example: 22.5 + 22.5 = 45 23 + 23 = 46 Something like a 2% disparity with seven contestants is easily explained that way. we do this. every. year. it's not worth trying to explain. just let them think the votes are manipulated. ignorance is the easiest path here.

Gigi's voice reminds me of a nervous kid at the junior high prom

speaking of ROTY, i know there were questions about what's the point, it's all pre-determined anyway, etc well, i suppose no matter what you believe, this will confirm it, but last year's ROTY voting ended up with roughly these rankings: sara emrata gigi hannah f. samantha hoopes marloes lily cris bregje lauren chanel valerieit gets a bit muddled in the middle of the list, but 5 of the top 5 came back and only 1 of the bottom 5 came back. (granted cris was pregnant; i do hope she returns) so at this point, if the final percentages end up resembling where they've been for the past few days, it seems entirely probable that both erin and rose will come back for 2016. with the exception of ashley, the bottom of the list is a little less consistent, as robyn, solveig, and hailey have all been in or close to single digit percentages. as dismal as her pictures are, i think SI is stuck with robyn for more than a year, and they seem to really want to push hailey clauson as a kate replacement. i wouldn't hold out hope for ashley or solveig, though.

hey, watching this swimsuit special now it's really fantastic if your favorite part of the swimsuit issue is the editorial staff and your least favorite part is the models doing what they do best if you happen to feel the other way, then don't bother with it

are they not doing the App this year? it's been a week and it hasn't shown up in iTunes..

The more I look at this issue, the more frustrated and disappointed I get. It's just a cascade of poor decisions. Instead of favorite shots, I can only pick saving graces, like this one:

Though if we were to do something like this for a thread, I think picking actual photos (2-4 per model) would be more fun. Lists by themselves are kind of boring, especially if a model is either obscure or so prolific that the pictures of them we have in mind could be anything. I get eddie's point about a free for all being possibly more fun. I'd be initially in favor of ground rules because hey, art from adversity. You're gonna have to retain some models you aren't all that thrilled by, or just go back in a time machine and re-do decisions you didn't like (for me itd be retaining Catrinel and Kim Cloutier or something). if the pick three thing was done well, then you could compile the answers and get a sense of which models should stay / go, which new girls should be next year's rookies, and so forth. the time machine aspect just sounds silly. i mean, i love catrinel and kim cloutier, but their time has passed, i'm sad to say. would be more interesting to discuss models who actually have a chance of being cast rather than OH MAN CATRINEL AT AGE 19 ON THE COVER FTW

No sweat. I've been called a lot worse. A few pages back, Memento Mori put forth the idea of designing your own swimsuit issue in a new thread. An interesting idea. If we're so smart, how would we do it? He suggested putting parameters and guidelines on it. I have to disagree there. Along with the usual cast of characters, why not make it open to any girl? One of the most fascinating things about the SI issue for me is discovering a relatively unknown model. Any thoughts? i've had this thought, too. i was thinking of something along the lines of a "pick three" we establish a few categories and for each category, you could pick three suggestions. such as... pick three rookies to definitely return in 2016 pick three rookies to never return again pick three veterans to never return again pick three girls who you would've preferred on the cover (could be hannah) pick three models who attended casting calls who should've been in the issue pick three models who should be in the casting calls in 2015 (for the 2016 issue) pick three photographers SI should work with (that they haven't worked with before) and so forth i think once we figured out just a few categories and got the format down, it could be a nice way to 'editoralize' the issue without having long-ass text posts (like this one)

whoever said the needed to completely re-do all of the hawaii shots, i totally agree in the videos, you can hear how absolutely clueless they are. they've got emrata, one of the sexiest women alive, wearing the absolute dumbest possible thing (a massive LEAF) and you just hear MJ and Yu screaming OMG GORGEOUS WOW YESSS YESSSSS. also, emily explains how they got to a location and the sun was in the same direction as the background they wanted to use, so instead of shooting into the sun they just turned around and shot against some grass (instead of the beach overlook). as if the sun's location was a total wildcard.
