Kate Lawler Kate Louise Lawler (born May 6, 1980 in Beckenham, London, England) is a British woman who became known in 2002 for winning the third British season of Big Brother. She was the first female winner of Big Brother UK. She received over 3 million votes, one million more than runner up Jonny. Since leaving Big Brother, she briefly worked as a television presenter and has pursued a career as a glamour model. Career since Big Brother In September of 2002 she became a disc jockey on Capital FM, a position she held until December 2003. She co-presented the breakfast TV show RI:SE from February 2003 until it was axed in December of that year.In 2005, she was one of the competitors in the ITV show Celebrity Wrestling, competing under the name, The Brawler. She helped her team, the Warriors, win the team championship, but was eliminated in the semi-finals of the individual competition by Leilani Dowding. She now works as a club disc jockey in Europe and Japan, and is an occasional columnist for the UK-based celebrity gossip magazines OK! and New. As with many reality tv celebrities, Lawler has managed to retain a degree of media exposure including paparazzi shots of her at the beach and elsewhere and appearing in men's magazines wearing minimal clothing in photo features. On July 24, 2006 Ann Summers announced that Lawler would be the company's new model in its lingerie advertisements. In 2006, she appeared on Brainiac: Science Abuse, being electrocuted in an electric chair. She is currently a presenter on Playdate, a late-night dating programme on ITV2. Personal life For 18 months from summer 2003, Lawler was engaged to Middlesbrough F.C. footballer Jonathan Woodgate. She has since been linked to TV presenter Russell Brand and ex-Arsenal F.C. and England footballer Paul Merson. In late 2005 and early 2006, many glossy magazines and tabloids announced she was suffering from anorexia. Lawler denied these allegations. Kate Lawler has a non-identical twin sister, called Karen. She also has an older sister called Kelly and a brother called Robert. Controversy Lawler wrote a twice-weekly Big Brother 7 column for The Sun online for the duration of the series. Early in the series she spoke about her opinion and feelings towards BB7, branding the housemates "weird" and "fame-hungry". Although she previously denied rumours that she would participate, on August 14, 2006 she entered Love Island 2 as a new arrival. Fellow contestant Sophie Anderton was not impressed as she had had it written into her contract for the show that Lawler, along with three other unnamed celebrities, would not also appear. Sophie had been rude to Kate at a party in London, to which Kate retaliated; this had caused Sophie's animosity towards Kate. However once on Love Island Sophie and Kate made up, and became friendly. 'Lost' Star Lilly's Home Destroyed by Fire The Hawaii home rented by Lost star Evangeline Lilly burned down to the ground yesterday, but nobody was hurt. The house, which Lilly shares with two female crewmembers, was empty at the time of the blaze. The 27-year-old's representative Cara Tripicchio tells People magazine, "Yes, it is unfortunately true that her home in Hawaii burned down this morning. "Thankfully, Evangeline is safe as she was on set already when it occurred." Honolulu Fire Captain kenison tejada was alerted of the fire at 6:43 a.m. (local time) and fire engines reached the home in Kailua just minutes later. He explains, "When we arrived the house was fully engulfed in flames. It was a complete loss. Just the roof was still standing." Fire investigators arrived on the scene later in the day to help determine the cause of the accident.
