Shah Rukh's Mannat : A Digital Fortress SRK’s friends being chased for fingerprints! Like they say, everything comes at a price. And its a high one if you belong to SRK’s inner circle of friends and family. For those of you who think that what can possibly pose as a problem to the people close to the influential King Khan, here it is.. The actor who is standing at the thrust of producing an international film, has become extremely security-conscious. Not wanting to rely on manned security, especially after one of the security personnel posted at his bungalow was arrested for murder, SRK has opted for a hi-tech security system. From what we hear, the actor has installed a biometric security scan at his residence. This means that only those guests who have pre-registered their fingerprints stand to have a smooth clearance through the hi-tech security system of Mannat. And this job has been enthrusted upon the security company. In order to prevent any inconveniency to SRK’s esteemed guests like Karan Johar and Farah Khan, the security company is now constantly chasing them for registering their fingerprints. So while SRK is having a sound sleep after installing a fool-proof system, it is his pals that are being driven crazy at the moment.

I’m no harta karta in hockey, fumes SRK It couldn’t have been a more ironic setting for Shah Rukh Khan. Two days after the senior national hockey team failed to earn a ticket for the Beijing Olympics, the Bollywood superstar who last year breathed new life into Indian hockey with Chak De India!, today vented his anger at repeatedly being mentioned alongside the Olympics berth debacle. “I am no harta-karta in hockey, am I?” Shah Rukh fumed today at the launch function of the IPL’s Kolkata team, when asked by a reporter about how much he rues the downfall of Indian hockey in the backdrop of the Chak de India! euphoria last year. “I know there is a huge amount of sadness among Indian sports fans for what happened to the hockey team. Hockey has traditionally been a glorious sport in India. But let’s all get over this blamegame. Let’s put it behind us,” an animated SRK retorted when asked if he should have invested reasictically into hockey rather than going for cricket. “But hockey will bounce back, it should learn a lesson from the way the Australian cricket has failed on the recent tour. Australia is a great team and they will bounce back, so will Indian hockey,” said Shah Rukh, drawing a parallel between the two cases. “In fact, I am the only actor to play in a film which is about women’s hockey. What more can I do? As if my father played hockey, my father’s father played hockey, and so on,” he remarked, tongue-in-cheek. Shah Rukh had starred as the coach in the blockbuster film about the Indian women’s hockey team that made waves last year.

SRK's New Heroine Found? Karan Johar readily gave away Shah Rukh Khan's dates to Aditya Chopra for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi! It's a known fact that Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra are not only professionally close but are also the best of friends. Karan recently gave a proof of how good a friend he is to SRK and Aditya. Karan didn't think twice before giving away the dates that Shah Rukh had promised him for his upcoming film, Khan to Aditya Chopra who will soon start shooting for his romantic film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Adtya Chopra had last directed Mohabbatein in 2000. Karan Johar was ready to start shooting for Khan and had SRK's dates from May onwards. Karan can't stop recalling his days when he assisted Aditya on the sets of his directorial debut, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Karan had also acted in the Shah Rukh-Kajol blockbuster. Commenting on readily giving away SRK's dates to Aditya, Karan Johar says, "Adi, Shah Rukh and I are thick friends. I am extremely fond of Adi and very excited about the fact that that he is directing a film after so long. For us, star dates are a minor issue. I am more thrilled about Adi's film than mine. I did it more than happily." Apparently, Kajol stars opposite SRK in Khan while Aditya has already finalised a 16-year-old female lead for Rab Ne Bana…

Donate organs and live for eternity: Priyanka Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra today pledged to donate her organs, and said “one should understand the importance of organ donation because one lives for eternity.” “I was here because the function was organised by the Army Medical Corps and I am a child of an Army personnel,” Priyanka said on the sidelines of the conference of Indian National Association for Study of Liver (INSAL) organised this year by the Army Medical Corps here. She said that she realised the importance of organ donation when her father was ill. Priyanka said organ donation could be scary for people who dont have knowledge about its benefits, and added that donors are unsung heroes even after their death. Chief Guest Union Defence Minister A K Antony lauded the efforts of Armed Forces for leading the way in organ donation, and wished them success in their future endeavour. The Armed Forces Organ Retrieval and Transplant Authority (AORTA) has shown the way in organ donation, even in medico-legal cases, Antony said. “The fast changes in the life style is leading to increase in liver diseases. I am happy to note that liver specialist from all over India have gathered here to discuss these issues,” the Defence Minister said. Antony appreciated medical fraternity for its efforts to treat patients suffering from liver related diseases and research in the field. Former cricketer and Member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu also pledged to donate his organs. When asked whether other MPs will also donate their organs, Sidhu said that he knows about himself, adding that if parliamentarians were here they would have surely donated their organs. The AORTA has even managed to get over 1,000 people to pledge their organs through an extensive publicity programme within the Armed Forces. “Even in grief you can help,” reads a small board at the Intensive Care Unit of six Army hospitals across the country, urging relatives to donate organs of their dear departed to help others. The “board with a silver lining”, as it is referred to by transplantation experts of the Armed Forces, invariably draws the attention of those waiting for that final confirmation of loss from doctors. Till now, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, former Miss India Nikita Anand and Gul Panag, and many army officers had already pledged their organs for donation. (ANI)

Execute warrant against man who 'sold' car to Sushmita: HC The Bombay High Court today ordered Police Commissioner Hassan Gafoor to execute a bailable warrant against Vasu Thamala, the person from whom actress Sushmita Sen allegedly bought an imported car. The warrant is returnable by April 8. The court had earlier ordered police to execute warrant on January 8. The police, however, today told the court that High Court registry had not yet issued the warrant. The court ordered the registry to issue the warrant immediately. Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) had earlier demanded a penalty of Rs 23 lakh from Sushmita for evading octroi on the imported Toyota Land Cruiser. The actor challenged the imposition of penalty before the High Court. That order was set aside by High Court on the ground that only a court, not a civic body (MCGM), can impose penalty if a person is found guilty of duty evasion. But at the same time, High Court had passed strictures against her for various apparent "irregularities" in the transaction. MCGM had also alleged that Thamala, who purportedly brought the car from Dubai on the ground that he was shifting to Mumbai from the Gulf city, was a non-existent person. Sushmita's contention was that she did not import the car, but it was brought to India by Thamalla, the original owner.
