  1. I highly doubt it, the US economic situation currently is the result of 40 years of missteps and internal corruption which warped/distorted society. It would require many years if not decades to restructure the economy if it is even possible. Just the act of re-industrializing a peacetime economy top-down would take many administrations. Overall, the quality of the US political top is extremely low (in terms of personalities, and ideas) and corrupt. On top of that the national debt levels are now growing at an insane pace which is a tax on the whole population. There's also the problem on how to un-financialize the insanely over-financialized US economy which represents a tax on the whole population outside the finance sector. It seems to be impossible, especially with IT being so advanced that any regulation would be maneuvered by financial innovation. If you look at the US stock market it is over-valued by many multiples- American companies are simply not worth that much based on valuation principles. It's funny money. And how to fix healthcare, also 20% of the economy? Due to the great wealth extracted from the population, near my house there have been so many new fancy medical facilities and hospitals constructed. If there's a God, he hates America since the Vietnam war and wants to damage it as much as possible so it disappears as the world's superpower as soon as possible.
  2. Trump repeats this story about the Afghanistan retreat-again. He told this multiple times while campaigning and now is telling it again in the white house..
  3. Institute for the Study of WarInstitute for the Study of War US President Donald Trump announced large-scale and rapid military aid supplies to Ukraine via the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and possible future secondary tariffs against Russia. Trump stated on July 14 during a meeting with NATO General Secretary Mark Rutte that the United States will impose "severe" 100 percent secondary tariffs on Russia's trade partners if there is no peace settlement to end Russia's war in Ukraine within 50 days.[1] Trump also announced that the United States will send "billions of dollars' worth" of military equipment and weapons to NATO, that NATO will pay for the US weapons, and that NATO will "quickly distribute" these weapons to Ukrainian forces.
  4. It looks like Trump will attempt to get Putin to do a 'Peace Deal in 50 days', this time with tariffs and re-starting aid to Ukraine. I doubt that Putin/Russia wants to end the war at all.
  5. I personally think it's impossible, both parties are corrupt frauds. Like I said before I think that the US is in the 'final stage' of civilization. The common people can only suffer through it and try to find our own way out.
  6. The US has been steadily committing economic suicide since the 1980s- whatever increases in the economy did not flow down to ordinary people but into parasitic industries, the ultra rich and the government. The US, unlike most countries in the world is potentially self-sufficient (like Russia). It mostly that way during the Cold War. This is what MAGA wants..
  7. Republicans believe in the "supply side economics" multi-decade garbage (tax cuts for the rich will stimulate the economy and trickle down to the poor idiocy, even people living in trailers and apartments believe this) so they don't have a problem with that. The tariffs' long term goal appears to degrade the US's suitability for foreign investors/corporations and global trade. Ultimately what happens years after Trump (as a result of his behavior) could be more impactful than what he did in it.
  8. a German model (? IIRC). I forgot her name and forgot to post her thread link..
  9. I wonder if illegals who get caught by ICE kidnappers can bribe their way out, similar to what is going on Ukraine by the press-gangs.
