Yoann Gourcuff
I know. I just think it's weird because there are players he's grown attached too (A. Diarra, Gourcuff & Planus, namely, and Carrasso although he had already forfeited, so he didn't really strike). But I'm all for him selecting a batch of new young players.

Apparently Laurent Blanc is thinking of cutting the entire WC team, at least for a while. But he's supposed to love Yoann, so I don't know.

Supposedly Doutzen is signed until 2011. Then again, both Izabel and Marisa have been dropped after two years (although Marisa was rehired, she isn't doing much either).

Laurent wouldn't have let him play anyway. He had said again and again he was "saving" him for the World Cup. I don't think they hated him as much as it was reported, but they clearly had little in common. I, too, was disappointed in Toulalan and especially Evra. I know they were in the heat of the moment but really, not once did they think about how stupid they looked and sounded? Anyways, Yoann is back in Bordeaux and having fun, so that's that.

VS should seriously think about launching a maternity line. Congrats Doutzy.

Well, they often have a fair-skinned black girl (Tyra, Selita, Emanuela, Chanel), a baby faced model (Helena, Laetitia, Ana BB, Miranda, Rosie), a bombshell (Daniela, Karolina, Doutzen, Candice), a barbie (Karen, Heidi, Ana H, Marisa, Erin/Lindsay), a voluptuous brunette (Stephanie, Adriana) and a brazilian androgynous model (Gisele, Alessandra, Izabel). A token "dark" girl (Oluchi, Aminata) is thrown into the mix, when they feel it's necessary.

I agree that Miranda looks way younger than she should to be a VS model, but then again, so do Lindsay, Chanel... That video sucked, but it didn't make me uncomfortable either. And, TBH, I don't find that many VS models to be sexy.

I'm sad for Doutzen, but I'm happy Spain won.

Yoann Gourcuff
You beat me to it. What I find weird is that both Chamakh and Gourcuff's father have hinted at the fact that Yoann had been bullied. Apparently both Cisse and Gourcuff were against the strike, though (the article basically says that they apologized and said that they weren't allowed to say no to the strike). Edit: featurette on him on Telefoot For those who can't speak French, the higlights are: -He went through hell during the FWC -His Bordeaux teammates and staff were disappointed that he didn't play the last game for Bordeaux to save himself for the FWC -More Lyon transfert rumors -Squashing of Arsenal tranfert rumor And now a little (off-topic) rant about Toulalan: Fire your press officer. Cause somebody who A) helps you lead a strike two days before an important game and B) allows you to talk about it when you alomost got out unscathed doesn't have your best interest in mind. I don't get why he came forwsard, unless it was about to come out in the press and, then, he made the smarter move. But otherwise, not only did he stain his career, he stained everybody else's. Before his stupid interview, people just thought "Oh Evra and Ribéry bullied everyone into striking" now people might just think it was unanimous after all.

Important parts of what I posted, translated: France Info: You have many friends among the players. What did they tell you over the phone that can be said here? Pierre Ménès: That those who spoke had lied. That the atmosphere was dreadful. That the way Yoann Gourcuff was treated was very close to racism, or even homophobia, which is very surprising for a guy who is not gay Vikash Dhorasoo: (…) We exclude him [Yoann Courcuff], because he’s different. Christophe Hondelatte: (…) When you say that he’s a little different, when someone’s elegant people say that “he isn’t married”, you think that this may have affected his relationship with the rest of the group? VD: Yes. There is too much difference in him. He’s handsome, he’s white, he’s certainly not a Muslim, he plays very good, he talks football very well, his father is a coach… CH: And he doesn’t go around telling how many chicks he screwed the night before? VD: I don’t know. I wouldn’t go that far, but either way there are many differences and that may have been a problem sometime. Full version

http://yagg.com/2010/07/07/fiasco-des-bleu...-lhomophobie-2/ Ok, this pisses me off. Who the hell cares whether he's gay, straight, bi, hermit or whatever? That's between him and his significant other (if there is one). If anybody really made those comments, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I love how Russell can't make a sentence with Doutzen in it that doesn't include the word athlete. And yay for more Vogue And maybe I'm slow but where's the bit where she talked about Marisa?
