OMG! They've changed their mind
TOMB RAIDER SEQUEL WITH ALICIA VIKANDER GETS THE GREEN LIGHT
It’s happening. TOMB RAIDER is getting a sequel and Alicia Vikander will continue her role as Lara Croft.
Yes, it has been officially confirmed that Alicia Vikander will once again play the hero in the follow up to 2018’s movie. The film will be in production by MGM and Warner Bros. and this time, they have brought in new talent in the form of Amy Jump to pen the screenplay. Her work is largely known for FREE FIRE which she co-wrote with Ben Wheatley and HIGH RISE starring Tom Hiddleston. No official information has been revealed yet about the plot for the sequel but in the first movie, which Vikander stars in, it was more of an origin story. Lara Croft was younger trying to work out her skills and discover more about the disappearance of her father as she travelled to a mysterious island.
The ending of TOMB RAIDER did leave room for a sequel after Lara learns that her father’s (Dominic West) business partner Ana Miller (Kristin Scott Thomas) is the person behind the evil Trinity organisation looking to take over the world. Will we finally get to see her use the iconic duel pistols that she managed to claim at the end of the last movie? We have a feeling we will… Not everyone was a fan of TOMB RAIDER, as it received mixed reviews from both critics and movie-goers. It made $270 million worldwide, but most likely with minimal profit from ticket sales. Tomb Raider starred Dominic West (Money Monster, 300), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) and Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands). Roar Uthaug called the shots for the movie.
