Jamelia
Date of Birth (Location) 1st October, 1981. Birmingham, England, UK. Biography Jamelia has had more false starts than an Olympic sprinter but now really is her time to burn bright. Her last single 'Bout' pointed the way but the new single 'Superstar' rams the message home - this girl is back to finish what she started. It seems unbelievable now that her first single was released in 1999 when she was at the tender age of 18. Even more unbelievable is that she'd been discovered by Parlophone at the age of 15, when she stood up in an A & R man's office and sang her own songs accapella, with a confidence that women twice her age would be proud to display. Parlophone signed her on the spot, but let her develop in her own time, until she was ready to release a single, which, 3 years later, she was. It's hard to imagine how out on a limb she was at that time. UK R&B was still looking for a female star and didn't expect to find it in an 18 year old from Birmingham who no one had previously heard of. They were to be surprised. Within 18 months Jamelia was to go on to have 4 Top 40 hits, most notably the amazing 'Money', still her most recognised song and certainly her biggest success, peaking at No5. In 2000 she was nominated for 4 Mobo Awards and won one. At the time, the 'Independent on Sunday' wrote that "a poised 19 year old, Jamelia has the homegrown talent to give Missy Elliot a return for her money". Her rise seemed inexorable. Then Jamelia got pregnant and effectively put her career on hold, although she continued to write during her pregnancy. In fact, 'Bout' is the song she was working on at that time. Her baby girl was born in March 2001 and Jamelia spent the next two years bringing her up. It would be two years of absolute joy, but coupled with the frustration of seeing R & B explode into the mainstream without her. It was especially galling in that she had spent the two years germinating ideas and songs, relishing being with her daughter but itching to get back and prove herself one more time. June 2003 saw her return with the remarkable 'Bout', written by Jamelia and C Swing, a writing collaboration that had already spawned 'Money'. 'Bout' became Jamelia's fifth hit, in spite of problems with the video which delayed the release of the single. Another false start, albeit a minor one, the only casualty being Rah Digga who guested on the single but could not appear in the re-shot video. On September 15 Jamelia releases the sure-fire smash hit single 'Superstar', followed by the album, as yet untitled, on Sep 29. Both are classics, the album totally redefining what this artist is all about. If 'Superstar' is instantly commercial, the album pushes the R & B envelope so far that it bursts open at the sides. Not that it sacrifices tunes for innovation; at the heart of every track is a killer song, it's just everything sounds so fresh and new in a genre filled to capacity with genuine artists and those adopting R & B lite tendencies to get a hit. This is the real thing, not the diffusion line. Some of the tracks feature collaborations - 'Club Hoppin', for example, features Bubba Sparxxx, while 'Off Da Enz' features Asher D from So Solid Crew. But it is very much Jamelia's record and, as such, pisses all over her previous album 'Drama' from such a height you'd have trouble recognising it as the same girl. But it is, it's just she's lived more of a life and the songs reflect that. Lyrically, it's a staggering achievement from one so young - listen to 'Thank You' and 'Life' for examples of a remarkably incisive writer, one who can write about a subject like physical abuse in a way that belies her youth and, like the best writing, allows us an insight into a world whose dark spaces we might not always wish to confront. And great tunes too! Prepare to be surprised by this album. It's undoubtedly the work of a major artist, one whose time has come at last at the ripe age of 22. 'I coulda been a contender' could easily have been Jamelia's lament, firstly when she was signed at 15 but didn't release her first single for 3 years, and secondly when she broke-off her career at it's height, to have her baby. A contender? No way, Jamelia, with this album you've already won the fight. Official Web Site http://www.jamelia.com Pictures

Shakira
I never said they were equal in looks, just that they look alike. I also think Shakira is way better than Beyonce, but from certain angles they do look a lot like each other; especially when Shakira's not smiling and she tilts her head back slightly.

That Time Of The Month
I don't get too evil; sometimes I do, but most of the time I just cry for the stupidest reasons. One time I cried over a pencil and then I stopped and thought "Why am I crying over a pencil?! That's so stupid!" and then started crying about me crying over a pencil. LOL It's really annoying because not every girl gets that and so they don't understand and the guys don't understand it at all so everyone just stares if I happen to burst into tears in public for no apparent reason.

That Time Of The Month
Sorry to hear that Sweetpea. *Hugs* I still get those now even though I'm on the pill. They hurt like hell and before I went on the pill I had to have 2 days off school/college where I'd just be curled up in my room crying all the time, it hurt so bad. =(

That Time Of The Month
Yeah, you can put them in at the wrong angle and it can give you pains in your stomach and lower back all because of one tiny little tampon.
-
That Time Of The Month
I've never tried tampons, but everyone I know who has tried them has never been able to put them in right (even with the applicator thing) and apparently it hurts if you don't put it in right and if you bleed heavy you can still leak. So, no tampons for me even if pads can be really awkward sometimes.

That Time Of The Month
I agree, as well. They always stink and it's really strong; if I walk past the men's room when someone's going in/coming out I almost always retch. >< And the toilets I went in were at university and I commute (takes about two hours to get back home), I had a three hour lecture/seminar so I couldn't wait until I went back home. Usually they are pretty clean, though. Public ones are awful. And where I live you have to pay to go in them because people were vandalising everything and putting stuff that burns your skin off on the toilet seats. O_O And I don't have any kind of smell when it's that time of the month. Then again I am a hygiene freak who showers twice a day.

That Time Of The Month
I just started Tuesday and I've had really bad pains. ;_; And it was so disgusting earlier, today. You know they have those little sanitary bins in the toilet cubicles? When I opened the lid to throw my stuff away it smelt horrible! >< I nearly gagged it smelt so bad. It's even worse when they haven't emptied them and people just keep bunging their stuff in so it's overflowing with their stinky tampons and pads. :x Gross...

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Shakira looks like a white version of Beyonce Knowles? I'm not just talking about her body type, either. If you look at her face in some of the pictures and imagine her with darker skin, she would look almost identical to Beyonce (in my opinion, anyway).- Best Browser
I use Firefox, but sometimes when you have a window with a scrollbar within the site you're viewing (hope you can figure out what I'm talking about) it doesn't work and the javascript that changes the colours of these scrollbars doesn't work, either. In IE they do.- Clothing stores
I checked them out and they're all between 33 and 35 inches long; waaay too long for me. O_O I'm a hobbit; I only have little legs! They're about 29 inches, so I'd be swamped by those jeans and I want some that I can wear with flat shoes.- Candids
Is it just me, or does that guy have a really weird jawline?- America's Next Top Model
LOL The UK airing is waaaay behind... we're still watching the one with Eva, Yaya, Amanda, Norelle, etc. I remember somewhere else people were saying they loved Anne and that Eva was horrible, but if you listened carefully, Eva never actually said she hoped that Norelle would fail; she just said "I hope someone else fails" and then Anne said, "Oh, so you hope Norelle fails?" and pretty much put the words in her mouth. Anne kinda insinuated that Norelle was fat, too and that Eva was a liar who pretended to be someone she's not and she didn't even hug Eva when she left. In my opinion, Anne was the nasty one; Eva never did anything wrong.- Christian Bale
LOL I changed it, now. More pics:- Christian Bale
Birth Name Christian Charles Philip Bale Date of Birth (Location) 30th January, 1974. Pembrokeshire, Wales, United Kingdom. Biography Unlike many, Christian Bale successfully made the transition from child performer to adult actor with a minimum of difficulty and was poised to become one of the breakout stars in the new millennium. The Welsh-born Bale started performing at age nine when he landed work in British television commercials. The following year, he acted on stage in alongside Rowan Atkinson in the comedy "The Nerd". Additional commercials and a part as a spoiled brat on the British series "The Heart of the Country" followed before he made his American TV debut as Alexis, the hemophiliac heir to the Russian throne, in the NBC miniseries "Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna" (1986), starring Amy Irving. Ironically, it was Irving's then-husband, director Steven Spielberg, who would offer the young thespian his breakthrough role in "Empire of the Sun" (1987). Winning the lead in this screen version of J G Ballard's autobiographical novel over some 4,000 other hopefuls, Bale delivered one of the best juvenile performances ever captured on film. As Jim, a pampered upper-class British adolescent living in China, he was required to shoulder the bulk of the film. Bale's character ages and undergoes enormous shifts of circumstances after becoming separated from his parents--moving from his privileged world to a life in an internment camp where he finds surrogate parents. His was the performance that anchored the film and critics and audiences paid close attention to his extraordinary work. Bale continued to stretch as an actor and eschewing the usual teenager roles. He undertook Shakespeare playing the boy who assists Falstaff (Robbie Coltrane) in Kenneth Branagh's stirring "Henry V" (1989) before playing Jim Hawkins to Charleton Heston's Long John Silver in the TNT movie "Treasure Island" (1990). After a short hiatus, the tall, extremely handsome Bale returned to features as the pro-labor leader of a band of urchins hawking newspapers in the ill-fated Disney musical "Newsies" (1992). Again, he was asked to carry much of the film and he acquitted himself nicely, proving to have a pleasant if unremarkable singing voice and capable of executing intricate dance steps. The latter came in handy for "Swing Kids" (1993), an ambitious and slightly overdone period drama about a group of German youths enamored of American big band music. Bale essayed the most intriguing of the group--a character who denounced his friends and embraces Nazism. While the overall film proved problematic, he delivered a compelling and nuanced performance. It took his turn as the wealthy, spirited Laurie, the neighbor to the March sisters, in Gillian Armstrong's version of "Little Women" (1994) for audiences to fully embrace him. Offering a charismatic and energetic male presence to the proceedings, he found himself wearing the label of "heartthrob". As the 90s wound down, Bale continued to offer fascinating characterizations. Attempting not to repeat himself, he walked off with the acting honors as a mentally disabled youth in Christopher Hampton's uneven adaptation of Joseph Conrad's "The Secret Agent" (1996). That same year he also appeared as a young swain in Jane Campion's " Portrait of a Lady".Undertaking his first real "adult" role, he starred as a married man questioning his life choices in the tart "Metroland" (1997; released in the USA in 1999. Shot over 27 days, "Metroland" offered the actor one of his richest roles, as he was required to portray the character at three stages in his life. That Bale believable sketched an immature schoolboy, a virginal twentysomething bohemian and a staid suburbanite is a tribute to his gifts. He managed a similar feat in Todd Haynes' problematic "Velvet Goldmine" (1998) as well, doing double duty as a mature reporter investigating the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a glam-rock star and playing his youthful incarnation who emulated said singer. Following another go at the Bard as the stalwart Demetrius in "William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream", he offered another strong performance as a slightly disabled youth in the fairy tale-like "All the Little Animals" (both 1999). While the film proved uneven, Bale utilized his body and voice to inhabit his character and held his own in scenes with the powerful John Hurt and Daniel Benzali. He next undertook what promised to be his most challenging role, that of Wall Street stockbroker turned serial killer Patrick Bateman in the film version of "American Psycho" (2000). This adaptation of a book which that was both praised and reviled sparked several controversies before a frame of film was exposed. Director Mary Harron had settled on Bale for the lead but Lion's Gate, the production company funding the film, had wanted more well-known names attached to the project. At one point actor Leonardo DiCaprio and director Oliver Stone were reported to be interested, but with a budget rising in excess of $40 million, Lion's Gate demurred. Eventually Harron returned to the project and hired Bale. Before filming began in Toronto, victims rights groups attempted to stop the city from issuing filming permits (the book allegedly served as an inspiration for a Canadian serial killer). From all reports, the role would be a demarcation in the actor's career: either he would be seen for what he is--a brilliant actor--or his career might never recover. It was a risk Bale was more than willing to take, as he put it, "Otherwise, what? I'm going to end up playing Laurie in 'Little Women' for the rest of my life?" Perhaps as insurance, he opted to portray the other end of the spectrum when he accepted the role of Jesus in the NBC biblical drama "Mary, Mother of Jesus" (1999), co-starring Pernilla August. From there Bale moved on to supporting roles in a pair of more conventional, low-performing films, John Singelton's remake of "Shaft" (2000) with Samuel L. Jackson and "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" (2001) starring Nicolas Cage. He scored a modest box office hit when he starred as the dragon fighter Quinn in the fantasy adventure "Reign of Fire" (2002); later that year the uninspired sci-fi parable "Equilibrium," which was filmed two years earlier and reunited him with Emily Watson, was released with little fanfare and poor critical response. I love Gwen Stefani. I find it funny that people don't like her much because she has small breasts, though; I think that is part of the reason why she can make such skimpy clothes look stylish, cute and sexy, but far from slutty. A large-breasted girl in the same outfit would just look like a ho, but small-breasted girls like Gwen can get away with it and make it look fantastic and classy at the same time. I like the way she has so much confidence about herself to wear those clothes, too; I know that there are plenty of small-breasted women who wouldn't wear them because they've been shamed into thinking they're not women due to the size of their chest. That's really sad. I hate how society makes people feel like that about themselves.- Clothing stores

i agree Me too; Adriana has one of the smallest noses I've ever seen. It's certainly anything but wide! In most people's faces the nose is wider than the space between your eyes, but if you look closely at the pic of Adriana her nose is about the same width, which is very small.- Hot or Not
