What's your favorite movie genre
That might be part of why I selected it...'cause when I see a good sci-fi, it's the BEST! I love to see original, well told stories with character development and good dialogue and action, but there have only been a few. Think what you will about Vin Diesel, but Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick are the most recent good sci-fi*. I like most all genres at some point. Have to be in the right mood. *I have yet to see Serenity (nor the related Firefly series which I hear is great).

Mel Gibson's career, RIP
Yeah right! Most people aren't smart enough to do anything on their own. Most people purchase their crap from the #1 importer from a Communist country, most people voted "the soul patrol" as the American Idol. sheeesh, most people suck. SS...Do I really have to explain to you why the Dixie Chicks are viwed as "doing something wrong"? I believe one of them said that she was ashamed to be from the same state as president Bush. I hear artists say far worse things about our leaders over here and it leads to absolutely nothing resembling the backlash they received (up to the point of death threaths). Every person has the right to disagree with his head of state and express his disagreement and frustration. Or at least, that's the way it's suppose to work. The systematic attacks they received served more as an example to make sure that no other artists would use their freedom of speech in a way that was critical for Bush. The whole "the timing was bad" excuse is a bunch of nonsense. Every time is a good time to voice your opinion, in public or in private. The official report says...Natalie Maines told a London audience "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." It wasn't the fact that they disagreed or don't like the president, it's the fact that they are celebrities that went to a foreign country and spoke out rudely. Their fan base was largely pro Bush so it was a betrayal of sorts. Speaking out here in the US is expected, but the fans felt betrayed by her remarks since she went to England to say them. Of course, this is no excuse for death threats, but people are free to react in protest if they want. DCs are protesting Bush so the fans decided to protest them. Pretty simple...not at all a case of restricting freedom of speech. Are they restricted from saying things like that again? No. Will it have consequenses, probably. But we all live under this sort of "speech filtering requirement". I mean, should I say that my 2nd amendment rights to freedom of speech are violated because I can't go up to my boss and call him a fucking asshole? No. Because I do have that right...I would just have to live with the consequences.

Cool Action Sequences
I love to watch a good fight or chase in a movie. Some I don't get tired of watching over and over. Some just blow me away when I first see them. I figured I'd make a thread for like-minded folks that love them too. The first one I'll mention comes from The Hulk...not a great movie, but not too bad either. The action sequence I love is when the Hulk fights the 3 tanks. The power he exhibits when he smashes the first one, or turns over the top half of the second one to drop the people out, then walks around with the barrell to smash the others. Ends up with bending the barrell of the third over to point into the hatch. Man, that scene made me go "DAMN!"

Mel Gibson's career, RIP
Well, I'm surely not saying we all have the SAME problems. We all have our own demons to deal with and many times drunkeness reaveals it...hopefully not so dramatically. Also, I'm not trying to say we should like Mel. We don't have to like anyone. It's just that we should realize that all our "stars" have issues and many times they aren't very nice at all.

Mel Gibson's career, RIP
The Passion was a good movie, but yeah people freaked. You're right about this...it's a rough one. All we can do is wait and see. The thing is, if I hated on every celebrity that had some nasty viewpoint I would be left with 2, maybe, that I could enjoy and then I would HOPE they would do a movie together. Most celebrities aren't going to get press like this spouting their crap for public scrutiny, but they all have their skeletons and "sins" if you will. Who are we to judge them? Sure, judge the idea and the behavior, but not the person. Have we walked a mile in his shoes? I think not.

Resident Evil: Extinction
I love both of the Resident Evils and can't wait for this one. I'm stoked. Ali Larter will be in it and also Spencer Locke ...but Milla is who I really go for. I'm surprised that you didn't like the first movie, Josh. It had a good story and set up everything. It didn't rush into the zombie thing but had that intelligent hive thing...was a cool concept and was revealed slowly to make the story roll well.

Mel Gibson's career, RIP
Oh come now...he is PLENTY more than an anti-semetic jerk...he was freakin Mad Max for God's sake! Funny when we realize that celebrities are people with problems and issues....as if we expect them not to have wrong opinions about anything or always act professional and sweet. This whole thing will blow over after a while like everything else...it might take a few months, but it won't last as long as the backlash against the Dixie Chicks or anything.
