Happy 13th Modelling Anniversary!
her IG post:
This month marks 13 years (13!!!!) since I stepped in front of the camera and became a model. Modeling was, and still is, one of the biggest blessing of my life.
This job is crazy. One month you make 30k and the next one you don’t work. You never know when is your next job, or if there’s one. You grow up away from friends and family. You learn to walk by yourself at night in the city you’ve never been to.
You learn how to eat so you’re not starving but not gaining weight.
You learn to survive on weekly 80€ pocket moneys while learning all the metro, train and bus stops in foreign countries.
You learn to say no. POLITELY. So nobody gets offended.
You learn how to look fresh and glowing while trying to survive and stay in the game.
And you wait for the next big thing. For someone to see your potential. And then book you again.
I could probably write a book on all of the lessons, challenges, circumstances, and maybe one day I will. But for now, all that matters is that somehow, I still love it.
5 years ago I met a great modeling agent that told me my era has passed. I heard that my looks could make millions in the ‘90s. Not in 2019. Maybe he was right.
But I still gave a chance.
I still love the camera, and the people I create with.
I had so many ups and downs. Countless rejections. Being told to lose weight while wearing size 0. I heard it all. Too pretty. Too basic. Too symmetric. Too white.Too blonde. Too classic. At one point I almost gave up.
Got sick of double standards.
But this job is something that walks with you. I love myself in front of the lenses and I learned to accept parts that I don’t like.
In fashion industry everyone knows you, yet nobody sees you for who you are. Apart from my ex agent and I’m so grateful for that. I was lucky to have people that didn’t let me give up when I hated myself.
I wish I could do some things differently. Like believing more in myself.
Nobody teaches you that.
I know I haven’t done my biggest jobs yet.
But I met friends for life.
Been everywhere, saw everything, and I regret nothing.
If our paths ever crossed in this crazy industry, thank you! ❤️
Here’s to another 13
