True, expectations can play a big part in how critics or the general audience view a movie. I know it happens to me sometimes.

I'm sure Warner Brothers is pleasantly surprised. I saw Patty Jenkins in an interview saying that she thought the movie was good the first time she watched the first rough cut. After editing for weeks and seeing every scene dozens of times, she said she couldn't be sure anymore. So, she was fairly happy with the response. Some aspects of being a director do not seem like much fun.
  4. @chapichapo can you help decide this round? I know you vote in some competitions. We can't seem to find a 19th voter. side note: I know we have had 19 voters before in one of the survival threads. I'm not sure if it happened in this one yet.

Kendra paid a lot of money hoping to look as good as Hannah, and failed. I thought Hannah looked good the first time I saw her and I still do.

My understanding was that a main reason for the reduction in episodes was to save money and reduce how long it takes to film a season (but I likely remember things incorrectly). So, increasing the episode length would probably go against that.
  9. Re-vote? The best result would be that a lot of people change their votes and it still ends up a tie. (Not really, that would be a bad idea) ETA: Your idea was much better. It should work, eventually.

  13. I think I remember @Michael* votes in the survival threads occasionally. Nobody else comes to mind quickly without looking through the thread.

  15. I'm glad we agree.
  16. Well, that would just make her more attractive.

Saw the trailer for her new movie, Atomic Blonde. She looks great and the movie looks cool. I'm interested in seeing the final result.

  22. Five days without the deciding vote. There has to be someone available to break the tie.
  23. Jessica Alba [10] Eva Mendes [4]
  24. Elsie (Not going to fight the runaway winner)

That would be the right thing to happen, but it won't. I have noticed a similar thing with comedies. When Bridesmaids had critical and box office success, people thought that should end the idea that women can't lead a comedy. But the same articles questioning that notion still come out with every female-led comedy. When a female-led comedy fails, the narrative is always "see women can't do it". The same thing never happens when a male-led movie fails. The narrative will be something like "well that happens with some movies, they just don't connect with an audience". I wonder if we will ever get that kind of response from a female-led movie.
