Guti: No Black Sheep At Real Madrid

Guti of Real Madrid insists that there are no bad influences in the Bernabeu dressing room...

In the wake of Edmilson's remarks about a 'black sheep' in the Barcelona family, Real Madrid vice-captain Guti has expressed surprise.

What's more, he's pointed out that his own club seems to be unafflicted by such problems.

"Within Real Madrid, there are no black sheep," he told Marca.

"We are just normal people with a great enthusiasm for winning titles. We're young, hungry and motivated."

While Guti was shocked to hear of Edmilson's revelations, he quickly put his initial surprise aside to concentrate on his own team.

"I don't know what's happening in the Barcelona dressing room, and I'm not going to worry about the problems at their club," he shrugged.

Guti, 31, has been involved in Real Madrid in some capacity or another for over two decades now, indicating that he must have seen it all at the Bernabeu.

Guti In Line For Two Game Suspension

Guti's actions during his Real Madrid side's 1-1 draw away to Real Murcia could earn him a two game Liga suspension...

Marca has revealed that Guti's suspension following his red card against Murcia could result in a suspension of not one, but rather two games.

Normally a straight red card carries with it a penalty of sitting out the next match, but Guti appears to have committed two offences that will come under consideration from beaks at the Spanish FA.

Of course, he kicked out at Cesar Arzo in the incident that actually earned his red card. Apparently, though, he then compounded this by making inappropriate comments to the fourth official as he left the pitch.

The referee, Dauden Ibanez, has been informed of what went on as Guti made for the locker room, and it is thought that the Aragonese whistler has noted it in his official post-game report.

As such, Guti may sit out not only his side's visit from Racing Santander next week, but also the visit to Athletic Bilbao on the 8th or 9th of December. However, we won't know for sure until the Tournament Committee meets next Tuesday.

Guti has picked up seven red cards over the course of his career.

Real Madrid management split over Guti fine

Real Madrid management are split over action to take against Guti for his dismissal in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Real Murcia.

Guti's sending off left Real president Ramon Calderon and sports director Pedja Mijatovic fuming and both powerbrokers want the midfielder fined, says El Mundo Deportivo.

However, just as he stood up for Robinho, coach Bernd Schuster is insisting Guti be left alone. Last week, Schuster claimed "success" after choosing not to fine Robinho after he returned late from international duty with Brazil earlier this season.

Real Madrid's Calderon, Schuster split over Guti behaviour

Real Madrid management remain split over Guti's dismissal at Murcia on Saturday night.

While coach Bernd Schuster again stuck up for his midfielder, president Ramon Calderon described his actions as "unjustifiable".

"His behaviour was human, but unjustifiable," said Calderon. "He knows that he did not behave well, he is a leader of Real Madrid and a leader of this club must be careful."

However, Schuster said: "You should look at what led up to his dismissal. He suffered two or three violent tackles, with the referee not taking any action against the Murcia players.

"We know that Guti is always a target, especially when he is playing like he is this season. The opposition find it difficult to stop him."

Guti Provoked By Referee's Failure To Act - Schuster

Bernd Schuster has stated that he believes that Guti finally reacted to the provocation against Real Murcia and was sent off because the referee had allowed so many fouls to go before.

The German coach believes that if Arturo Daudén Ibáñez had cautioned some of the home team's players earlier in the Nueva Condomina then the incident would not have occurred.

Guti was sent off towards the end of Madrid's 1-1 draw on Saturday for kicking out at César Arzo and Schuster was not happy.

"The sending off came from what happened before," he said.

"In the first two or three violent tackles from Murcia players the referee did nothing about it and that is why this all happened.

"We know that Guti is always provoked. They have to stop him by fouling him because when he is in this kind of form it is difficult any other way."

Madrid president Ramón Calderón agreed that the provocation was ongoing, but believes that as club captain Guti should have restrained himself.

"It is a human reaction, but is not justifiable. He knows that he did not do the right thing as he is captain of Real Madrid and a captain of this club always has to be careful," he explained.

"One has to recognise that these things happen sometimes, but I do not approve of it."
