Miyazaki: There are several reasons that I have employed fragmented storytelling, including in Elden Ring.

First, I want the gameplay experience to become the player's story. For that, we don't tell a rigid story in a verbose way.

Additionally, we want to leave some of the story to the player's imagination. This ties into making the gameplay experience the player's story as mentioned earlier and becoming absorbed in filling in the margins with your own imagination is simply fun, I believe.

There is also the enjoyment of collecting the fragments in order to understand. Like, "Ah, so that's what it means. It all connects."

If he stops directing future Souls-like games then the quality may decline.  IMHO I don't know how they can proceed from Elden Ring, this game seems to be the peak of the Souls formula.  I would not be surprised if Elden Ring is the pinnacle of their success and things start going downhill from there.  Hopefully FROMSOFT will continue its streak of wins.

Two Years After Elden Ring, Miyazaki Trusts the Players to Figure It All Out (ign.com)

"With several more games released by FromSoftware since Dark Souls 2, Miyazaki now seems more comfortable entrusting future games to other directors, saying there “is a high possibility that we would delegate responsibility of director to those other Souls-ish games going forward.” It’s an idea he doubles-down on: “Yes, I think it’s very likely that we’ll see new directors going forward. And I think if we do that, I’d like to step away from that supervisory role and give them full direction and full control over those projects. I think really this is the best way and the easiest way for them to flourish within that environment and with those new projects.” "

Miyazaki is absolutely right. This is a very Japanese way of thinking. My karate teachers/teachings are like that in a way.

This is not only great for their success and story telling, but they allow guys like VaatiVidya to create great videos like this one. This is free ads and expansion for them. Anonymous people work for their stories freely.

Robert and the armored knight video is beautiful.

lol he already made a video on the trailer:

Vaati has 2.83 million subs, he has literally made a solid career out of FROMSOFT. At the same time, FROM gets free viral advertising.

The DLC is all about Miquella's path, my first guess is that his spirit/ghost will guide the player like Melina did.

This mod is insane. This is the ultimate form of the Malenia boss.  Such a spectacle!

Yea, you're right about that.  Instead of creating new ideas, Hollywood does the opposite- they endlessly make reboots, prequels, and sequels that explain what didn't need to be explained. Eg. Alien, Star Wars etc... like a "dog eating its own sick" so to speak..

The greatness of From's team is that they have been never-ending lore & creativity generators.  The actual technology of their souls games are actually rather behind western companies.

The artist created what some of the characters could have looked like before they turned into mutated monsters lol
