Heidi Komarek Obituary

Heidi Lynn Komarek, 58, of Sandusky (Ohio), known to many simply as Heidi, passed away on August 4, 2026 in Sandusky, following a fall.

She was born on November 28, 1967 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and lived a remarkable life filled with grace, creativity, warmth, and accomplishment.

Heidi was kind, generous, loving, and unforgettable. She carried herself with a natural elegance shaped by her lifelong connection to high fashion, but it was her compassion, sincerity, and warmth that left the deepest impression on those who knew her. Her life was guided by faith and a deep appreciation for beauty, culture, travel, and human connection.

At just 15 years old, Heidi began a successful international modeling career that took her to Paris, Tokyo, New York, Milan, and beyond. She walked high-fashion runways, appeared on magazine covers and in fashion editorials and campaigns, and worked with celebrated photographers and designers. She also appeared in several films, including The Icicle Thief, and was featured in a memorable Holiday Inn Super Bowl commercial directed by Tony Scott.

After modeling, Heidi began a new chapter in France, where she built a life centered on family and creativity. Her son, Theo Freysinet, was the center of her heart and her greatest joy. In Narbonne, France, Heidi owned and operated T, her charming tea salon, for 20 years. Known for her inventive teas, wonderful baking, and warm hospitality, Heidi delighted in introducing American pastries to her French customers and created a place where people felt welcomed and cared for.

Heidi attended Patch American High School in Stuttgart, Germany, and the American School of Paris. Her international upbringing shaped her adventurous spirit and ease with people and cultures around the world. She loved traveling, cooking, baking, fashion, and discovering beauty in everyday life.

Heidi is survived by her loving son, Theo Freysinet; her parents, Cynthia and Jon Komarek; her sister, Kristen Mitchell, and her husband, John, and their children, Cynthia, Thomas, and Mary; and her sister, Melisa Komarek-McClure, and her husband, Stuart McClure, and their son, Jack.

Heidi lived a life of adventure, reinvention, creativity, and love. She brought beauty into the world through her work, comfort through her hospitality, and joy through the way she cared for others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
