Posted December 25, 200420 yr MORRIS CHESTNUT Date of Birth: January 1, 1969 Born in Cerritos, California, Chestnut made his feature film debut in John Singleton's Boyz 'N the Hood. Playing Ricky Baker, an aspiring athlete whose life was cut short by gang violence, Chestnut went on to have a small role in The Last Boy Scout before taking time off to do some small screen work. Along with guest appearances on Living Single and ER, Chestnut landed a regular gig with the series Out All Night playing Jeff Carswell, and parts in telefilms In the Line of Duty: Street War and The Ernest Green Story. He returned to featurework in 1994 with The Inkwell, followed by stints in a number of big budget films. In 1999, he starred in the blockbuster film The Best Man. Along with a career push up the Hollywood ladder, it also garnered him an NAACP Image Award nomination for Most Outstanding Actor. Chestnut started off the new millennium off with a bang, starring in three films including The Brothers and Scenes of the Crime, and landing major roles in the telefilms Atikka and The Killing Fields.
