July 28, 201410 yr I got so excited when I went on youtube and saw there was a trailer, only to be disappointed when it was a teaser trailer announcing the real trailers date.
July 29, 201410 yr Author Same thing happened to me I saw the trailer on Facebook yesterday, but I haven't found it on Youtube. Edit: Here it is I'm not sure... I don't quite get why they included Pippin's song here. The scenes look amazing, but overall I didn't like the trailer that much
July 30, 201410 yr I think the song fit well with the trailer, and I did enjoy the trailer. Didn't reveal too much of the movie. But I guess that may change as they will probably release another two and then millions of TV spots.
July 31, 201410 yr Author The song itself fits, but I can't ignore the fact that is from a movie and events that happen 90 years after this one. That's what it's actually bothering me And surely there's going to be more trailers
October 24, 201410 yr A new report was released stating the battle in the movie it set to last around 45 minutes. Hopefully it is true as I remember Andy Serkis saying the battle in this movie is bigger then all the battles in Lord of the Rings, and those were pretty damn epic.
December 17, 201410 yr Author I went to see it past Monday and I loved it!And that report about the battle was true, it was absolutely epic.I really liked the movie, but I still have my concerns about how much they changed from the book...
December 18, 201410 yr Author As a Tolkien fan I definitely recommend you to watch the first 2 before this one. I think you would be completely lost if you only see the third movie. And above all, I recommend you to read the book

I really liked the movie, but I still have my concerns about how much they changed from the book... So lucky! Doesn't come out until the 26th here. I have read some of the changes that have been made and I can tell you now I am not happy with one.. I don't like Kili dying to protect the female Elf, totally spoils his death. I much prefer the book version where he and his brother die defending their Uncle. Don't understand why people complain about certain things being changed like actually showing where Gandalf goes when he leaves the group, the book never shows where he goes but the movies do; if they didn't then people would question and be confused as to where he goes before he suddenly returns to the group for the battle. Jackson did include details from the appendices at the end of the Return of the King novel as some of those notes took place during the events of The Hobbit timeline. But I will have to wait a couple more weeks until I can go see the movie and judge them as a whole.

The whole plot surrounding an Elf-Dwarf relationship is just so weird in the context of Tolkien's Legendarium. And the brothers' death is just so much more meaningful in the book. And I don't get those complains either. It's okay, that doesn't appear in the actual book, but it did happened and it appears on many other Tolkien's works, like in the Unfinished Tales, and the Appendixes. From my point of view, those additions were more than welcomed. It sucks you have to wait that much, but the movie is worth it (We had the same wait here last year, so I completely understand you)

It sucks you have to wait that much, but the movie is worth it (We had the same wait here last year, so I completely understand you) That love also feels like the whole deal with Legolas and Gimli means nothing. They are like the first Elf and Dwarf to become friends in years but with this random love it's like nope "screw Legolas and Gimli in Lord of the Rings".. I welcome those additions too! I welcome anything that adds more into these movies because I'm going to miss seeing movies based on Tolkien's work. Such a shame the family is withholding all the rights to his other works otherwise Peter might have done The Silmarillion. Waiting does suck but you are right, it's totally worth it. We've had all three Hobbit movies come out on the 26th. I guess because it's right in the middle of the school holidays in Australia, so it has about 5 or 6 weeks running with the holidays.
December 20, 201410 yr Author Oh yes, that too!! I didn't think about about it but it's true. And in the books Legolas and Gimli's friendship is actually a really big deal I didn't know that! So there go my hopes of anything related to The Silmarillion then... That may have something to do with it. You had the same delay with The Lord of the Rings?

Tolkien's son hates the movies Peter Jackson did. Always voiced his negative opinion about them while his own son loved them. As people said when Tolkien's son passes on they hope all the family estate goes to his son that loves the movies as he will most likely be willing to give them to a film studio. I think so but I don't really remember as I was only around 8 or 9 when all the Lord of the Rings movies were released.
December 20, 201410 yr Author We'll see what happens then. And I'll be waiting for your comments on the movie once you see it
January 20, 201510 yr Finally seen the movie! Gosh, I loved it and now I'm going to miss seeing more movies set in this world! The battle was amazing though, so well done and definitely bigger than all the ones we saw in LOTR. Now I have to wait for this to come out on DVD then I can marathon The Hobbit trilogy and move onto the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The relationship between Tauriel and Kili wasn't as over the top in this movie, though still rather annoyed he died defending her rather than his uncle. Hated seeing Fili die.
January 24, 201510 yr Author I see it was worth the wait then Or better in Bluray! Yeah, it wasn't that over the top maybe, but still, it was gave me the more troubles through the whole second and third movies. Oh, yes! I hated how Kili died, defending the Elf instead of his uncle. But at least it kept some meaning. Fili's death was so pointless comparing to how it was on the book. I hated that too. I guess they wanted a shocking moment, but it looses all the significance it had in the book.
