Very surprised with this one:

This Rush song's main riff

sounding VERY similar to this by U2

How could I forget posting this blatant rip off

Seems like Josh Homme did some recycling here

This one might not be THAT evident but...

This is such a blatant copy

Yann Tiersen's genius:

People who drew from Tiersen's work:

Part of this track looks like the intro of this song:

Probably a tribute.

A couple of similarities (they probably took inspiration from Mozart's piece)

Pretty much the same chord progression and very similar melodies

Main riff suspiciously similar to

(The main riff which starts at 1:24)

Watch Your Step by Bobby Parker

It has at least 3 direct "descendants"

Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name

Bonnie Tyler - If You Were A Woman (And I Was a Man)

The melody of the chorus is nearly identical!

And upon a little googling, it turns out both songs were released with months of difference in 1986 (Bonnie Tyler's in March, Bon Jovi's in July) AND both songs feature Desmond Child: as songwriter in Bonnie Tyler's case and as co-songwriter in Bon Jovi's case. So there we have the reason why. Mr. Desmond Child recycled a melody here and scored two major hits in the process

Reading a bit further:

Quote

After he had completed his work on Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire and the single had peaked, Child went to work with Bon Jovi a few months later. He co-wrote "You Give Love a Bad Name" with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora using the same composition and made the song a hit. "I was sore at the record company for not pushing that song ["If You Were A Woman (And I Was a Man)"], and I said, "I'm going to prove that that song's a hit!" So we wrote it again."

And there's yet another recycling of that melody

It's because I suspect you: it's your fault

Which has a very suspiciously similar melody to...
