Jonathan Edward "Jon" Bernthal[1] (born September 20, 1976)[2] is an American actor, best known for his role as Shane Walsh on the AMC television series The Walking Dead.

Since 2002, Bernthal has performed in over 30 plays regionally and off-Broadway, including many with his own award-winning theatre company, Fovea Floods. He starred on the sitcom The Class from 2006 through 2007.[6] Bernthal portrayed Shane Walsh in Frank Darabont's The Walking Dead, based on the American comic book series of the same name. He was nominated for the Breakout Performance – Male award at the 2011 Scream Awards for his performance. He has since been cast as Joe Teague in Lost Angels, Darabont's pilot for TNT.

Bernthal is married to Erin Angle, who is the niece of professional wrestler Kurt Angle.[6] They have a son together who was born in August 2011, and another baby boy who was born in February 2013.[7][8] He is a cousin of Adam Schlesinger who performs with the band Fountains of Wayne. Together with his brother Nicholas Matthew Bernthal, who is an orthopaedic surgeon at UCLA, they help run a nonprofit organization called Drops Fill Buckets, "an impact-driven, entrepreneurial approach to making a difference".[9][10]

Jon Bernthal Tapped for Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street"

Bernthal has risen.

"The Walking Dead" actor, killed off at the end of the last season of AMC's zombie drama, has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street," an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.

Bernthal will play a drug dealer and money launderer in the film, shooting in New York in August, which stars Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio. Written by Terence Winter, the film follows the financial rise and fall of Wall Street banker Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio).

Bernthal is also starring in "L.A. Noir," Frank Darabont's upcoming TNT series. He is also playing a lead role in the New York premiere of John Pollono's play "Small Engine Repair" at MCC Theater's Lucille Lortel Theatre in 2013.
