This is because Irina was discovered "late", compared to other models. She was 19 when she started, but it took several years to get big projects.

In the very beginning she was doing little catalogue work and a documentary for Ryan Leslie. No one had ever heard of her, untill she started working simultaneously for Italian lingerie and other companies as well as Sports Illustrated, but it wasn't unti;; her SI cover, that she started to book fashion runways, campaigns and other big things. I hope that answers your question.
