BECKS MISSES MALLORCA CLASH

David Beckham was again missing from the Real Madrid squad for Sunday's Primera Liga fixture with Real Mallorca.

Madrid coach Fabio Capello did not include the former England captain among his 19-man party for the trip to the Balearic Islands, while fellow outcasts Ronaldo and Antonio Cassano were also omitted again.

Although Capello declared last weekend that Beckham, 31, would not play for the team again following the midfielder's announcement he will be joining MLS side the Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer, the Madrid coach has subsequently suggested that the decision was not irreversible.

He said on Wednesday: "Nothing can be discarded. We have to see. The idea that we have now is the one that you know. (But) it is necessary to be flexible sometimes. Beckham is a great professional who always trains with a great desire. Ideas can be changed."

However, Beckham, who was omitted for Thursday's Copa del Rey match with Real Betis and has also been absent from team training for the last few days because of a thigh injury, will have to wait a while longer to see if Capello is willing to give him another chance after not being considered for the trip to Mallorca.

Capello did recall fit-again full-back Michel Salgado, but the coach is still without a host of first-teamers missing through injury with Raul, Emerson, Roberto Carlos, Marcelo, Guti and Cicinho all ruled out.

Therefore the coach has again gone with youth for this weekend's match, where Madrid will be looking to get back on track after being knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Betis.

BECKHAM REMAINS OUT IN THE COLD

David Beckham remains out of favour with Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello.

The 31-year-old former England captain has been frozen out of the first team since it was announced that he will join the Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season.

There had been speculation that he would be recalled today for Sunday's trip to Villarreal after Capello had appeared to soften his stance.

However, Beckham, who has struggled this week with a quadriceps injury, was once again omitted by the Italian coach when he announced his squad on Friday.
