Next time I go I will have to get cake and cookie mixes.  I have zero.  I have a lot of frozen meat (pork and chicken) and some shrimp, but the hardest part is putting the effort to cook them.

For some reason those are hard to find. :idk:

Just take the meat out in the morning to thaw out through the day while you do what you do, then prep and cook. :idk:

I check the numbers everyday and am waiting to see them dip..so far it's bad news twice a day.

I don't check the numbers at all.

Just think a country as populous as ours is going to have massive rates of infection.

You aren't near the epicenter though...

eg.:  This is Bergen County's confirmed.  The numbers start growing circa 10 days ago.  There are 1,000+ more right now today, with a few hundred pending for the next report.

It's slowly making it's way here and are probably 2-4 weeks behind the Tri State area.

The reason will be due to all the college students that went all over the country and world during Spring Break that brought it back a few weeks ago.

I don't envy the scientist trying to understand this thing. They are still trying to determine for certain how it spreads, how common someone can be asymptomatic, how to treat it, how to make a vaccine, and so much more. The one thing that helps is that they are not starting with zero knowledge since this virus is so similar to the SARS virus.

We will know so much more in a few weeks and even more in a few months. That seems so far away, though.

same, i miss it

Bergen county has too many NYC commuters, that's why the infection rate is high.

To give you an example, Teaneck NJ- a town with a lot of Jews- has 302 infected as of March 30th.  This is the highest in Bergen county.  A lot of them take the short bus/long bus to work.  Adjusted for the 1,000+ Bergen County increase for today, it's maybe a hundred more for Teaneck today.

I am most concerned with my two towns.  Adjusted for today's report, it's over 220+.  It will certain be in the hundreds by the time this is over, hopefully not over 1,000 residents.

The US recovery number is depressingly low: 8,953 as of right now vs 216,515 infected

This disease killed a 30-year old phs-ed teacher in IIRC, Palisades Park - he died in a few days after diagnosis.

Americans aren't healthy in general and from what I've read it's very hard to beat with preexisting conditions.

The numbers I saw out of Italy showed those who died averaged around three preexisting conditions.

Americans have way more per capita which doesn't bode well for the future. :(

I eat at home, of course, but yes I like going out to a good restaurant. (home or when traveling)

Unfortunately, that seems likely.

The countries which have struggled have been the ones whose hospitals get overrun. That's the other negative for the US, too many places are not staying home and social distancing enough to keep the overall numbers down.

I've been seeing this happen in a lot of Western countries.

Here, are we will to give up our civil liberties to be protected. The longer people don't listen the higher chances of martial law/emergency powers will be declared.
