September 10, 200816 yr Assault shame Naomi Campbell works in kitchen for homeless folk By Graham Brough And Stewart Maclean 10/09/2008, (mirror.co.uk). Naomi Campbell started community service in a soup kitchen yesterday after her assault on police - and was 10 minutes late. The supermodel's delayed arrival was because her limo driver got lost. Naomi, 38. was put to work helping out with the paperwork in the back office. Others on community punishment had to wash dishes and clean and claimed she was given an easy ride. One said she was treated "like a princess" and added: "It's usually pretty gruelling work but not for her." They added: "She was friendly enough and said hello but she didn't look too chuffed." But a pal said: "Naomi's very conscientious and determined to get stuck in and give 100 per cent to her community service. "She knows she's made mistakes and is happy to take the consequences. She wants to put something back into society." The catwalk queen will serve 200 hours after she admitted assaulting cops when she kicked and spat at them in a Heathrow Airport lost luggage row in April. She branded jet skipper Miles Sutherland racist and yelled at him: "You're not leaving until you find my f****** bags." She will carry out the punishment at the Whitechapel Mission drop-in centre in London's East End, which provides food and shelter for the homeless. Naomi worked all day, taking a brief lunch break for a cereal bar and banana. She and others on the punishment scheme must sign a time sheet on arrival. It is then filled in by their supervisor to check they are working the required hours The beauty is thought to have asked to complete her punishment as quickly as possible so she can jet to the US for work. Last night Naomi turned up a swanky society party. And she said she got on so well with her new pals she had asked them to her London charity fashion show next week, aimed at raising cash for mums-to-be who die. She said: "I had a great time today. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming. "I've invited them to my show and they've promised to come. I just want to keep my head down and get on with it."
September 10, 200816 yr Naomi Campbell parties the night away before her community service stint in an East End soup kitchen By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 1:16 PM on 10th September 2008 Naomi Campbell enjoyed an exclusive night at the Serpentine Gallery Summer party just hours after starting a 200 hour community service stint for spitting at police officers in London's Heathrow airport earlier this year. The model was all smiles at the event in London's Hyde Park and mingled with stars such as Joely Richardson, Mario Testino and Damien Hirst. Model behaviour: However the glittery party was a million miles away from her day at the Whitechapel Mission drop-in centre earlier where the 38-year-old reportedly turned up 10 minutes late in a chauffeur driven limousine. However, she was spared the worst jobs at the centre and instead was given the task of helping out with paperwork. A source told the Daily Mirror: 'It's usually pretty gruelling work but not for her. She was friendly enough and said hello but she didn't look too chuffed (excited).' Campbell later said that she had invited her new friends at the soup kitchen to her London charity fashion show next week, aimed at raising cash for mums-to-be who die. She said: 'I had a great time today. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming. 'I've invited them to my show and they've promised to come. I just want to keep my head down and get on with it.' This is the second community service bout the model who was ordered to perform five days community service and attend anger management classes last year after she was found guilty of reckless assault against her maid Ana Scolavino. Naomi parties with VIP guests hours after community service metro.co.uk, Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Naomi Campbell may be carrying out her community service duties, but that hasn't stopped her from fulfilling her role as a showbiz socialite. The supermodel spent a day dishing up soup before hitting the clubs with her socialite friends including Camilla Al Fayed and Mario Testino She hung out with Patrick Cox, Heather Kerzner, Camilla Al Fayed and Mario Testino at the glitzy Serpentine and CCC Moscow Summer Party, held at the Serpentine Gallery in London. Hours earlier she started her 200 hours of community service for assaulting a police officer in Heathrow Airport in April. Naomi's new job consists of her dishing out soup at an East London homeless centre. She was treated like a princess, it's pretty gruelling work but not for her. But in typical celebrity style, she was fashionably late and clocked in to her new gig 10 minutes after she was due to start. Her excuse was that her limo driver got lost on the way. The 38-year-old was put to work sorting out papers in the back office, but this didn't go down well with the others on community service. One said: "She was treated like a princess, it's pretty gruelling work but not for her. "She was friendly enough and said hello but she didn't look too chuffed." Naomi has said that she enjoyed her time at the centre and has invited her new pals to her charity ball next week. "I had a great time today," she said. "Everyone was so lovely and welcoming, I've invited them to my show and they've promised to come. I just want to keep my head down and get on with it." Recents from the wires
