Some Leo mentions from NY/Django press conference; they mention how sleepy Leo was :p

Number of actors who, when they walked by SPIN, had a smell so pleasant we actually wrote a note about it: 1 (Leo, you dreamboat!)

Number of eyebrow raises an admittedly very sleepy DiCaprio makes before answering a question: 2

Number of nevertheless funny interjections DiCaprio offers up to the statement, "Leo, this is the first film you've been in in quite a long time where you're not the only name above the title": 1 ("And it sucks!")

Leo helps to buy Casablanca piano

casablanca piano dec 15th.jpg

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is the new owner of the piano used in movie classic Casablanca after teaming up with a billionaire pal to purchase the item at auction on Friday.

The instrument which Dooley Wilson performed As Time Goes By on in the 1942 film went under the hammer at Sotheby's in New York for $600,000 - and the Titanic star was part of the duo which made the private winning bid.

According to the New York Daily News, DiCaprio and rich philanthropist Stewart Rahr teamed up to buy the piano, which they now plan on donating to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Experts had predicted the studio piece would fetch as much as $1.2 million at Friday's sale.

The moment I was referring to when Leo hugged 50 Cent and had adorable smile on his face

Some comments from Pop Sugar about Leo /press conference; they ,also, mention how tired he was :p

2. Leo Had a Hard Time Saying the N-Word Over and Over Again

Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson revealed that Leo

struggled with playing an evil, racial epithet-spewing slave-owner. Leo said that he had asked the cast, "Do we need to go this far at times? Does it need to be this violent? Does he need to be this atrocious to other human beings?" But Leo said that Jamie and Sam told him that if he didn't push his character to the limit, people would resent him.

Jamie had a different take on Leo's struggles, revealing that at one moment during rehearsals, Leo started to feel overwhelmed by his character's hate-spewing. According to Jamie, Sam came up to Leo, put his arm around him, and said, "Listen motherf***er, this is just another Tuesday for us." At this point, the whole room erupted into laughter.

It's also worth noting that Leo was tired throughout the conference since he had been filming The Wolf of Wall Street all weekend — but he was still perfectly charming.

The Empire Review of Django ; comments about Leo's Calvin Candie

Speaking of which, one of Django Unchained’s most exquisite pleasures is Leonardo DiCaprio’s Calvin Candie, the owner of grand plantation Candie Land. Although he does not breathe fire so much as hot air. When considering DiCaprio for the role, Tarantino reimagined Candie as a “petulant boy emperor”. It is a role the actor plays to hateful perfection: a spiteful, brown-toothed bully, avaricious, vain and prone to flattery, whose sometimes unctuous civility is merely froth bobbing atop dark, poisonous waters. There is always the sharp threat of violence when he is on screen, something Tarantino hones during a dinner-table sequence which comes close to matching the German-bar scene in Inglourious Basterds.

DiCaprio forms a superbly nefarious double act with Samuel L. Jackson as Stephen, the head house-slave: white-haired and rickety, eye-bulgingly apoplectic at the sight of Django on horseback, disgusted at the idea of a “nigger” being allowed to stay “in the big house”. And Waltz is also excellent, as accomplished playing a hero for Tarantino as he was as the villainous Hans Landa in Basterds — despite residing at the opposite end of the moral spectrum, Dr. King is just as brilliantly verbose.

Thank you all for the pics! I can never get over how beautiful leo's eyes are even after i've seen maybe hundreds of pictures of them :p Kerry is so incredibly gorgeous, Jamie Foxx is pretty decent looking... the rest are not as lucky in the looks department (though all great actors/directors) :p

From Variety : L.A /Django premiere has been canceled

The Weinstein Company has canceled Tuesday's Los Angeles premiere of "Django Unchained," the latest Hollywood event to be called off in the wake of Friday's school shooting in Connecticut.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., and in this time of national mourning we have decided to forgo our scheduled event," said a Weinstein Company spokesperson.
