I’m posting this, even though I know that most here don’t really care about the many indigenous communities of Oklahoma outside of Leo and KOTFM, but I was glad to see Leo acknowledge that “it’s still going on” here today. We (Oklahoma indigenous) are experiencing a bit of a backlash since the release of the movie and this article that was published today explains one of the many recent assaults occurring on our communities right now. I’m still disgusted and offended that Oklahoma’s lieutenant governor was present at Cannes for the movie this year. “Can you spot the wolves in this picture?” If you are Oklahoma indigenous, you certainly can.

Quote from the article:

“I can’t help but feel the timing of Governor Stitt’s latest assault on sovereignty was uniquely tied to the release of “Killers of the Flower Moon.” I can’t help but think he’s behaved using the same tactics that The Devil and all the other white settlers used in dealing with the Osage 100 years ago. It is right out of the Hale playbook … Find any barely legal loophole to exploit and keep taking more and more.”

^Also watched "Dance with wolves" the other day and now I'm really wondering how people are complaining about the length (and pace) of KOTFM when this fuck*ng overwhelmingly successful movie is 4 damn hours long AND VERY SLOW PACED (I watched it in 2 days to be honest lol). Loved it by the way. Any thoughts? I have no idea if it's aged well....

Also what is it with Hollywood letting white men standing thoughtful in cornfields and touching it at some point? lol

Sometimes it almost felt so authentic like a documentary.

I bought the Blu-Ray of Dances with wolves a couple of days ago but did not watch it yet. Also The Heiress and a Place in the sun. Leo said they took inspiration from these films for KOTFM so I wanted to also watch them.

Here's an interessting Lily interview where she talks about the relationship between Mollie and Ernest:

Theatrical or extended cut? Just curious 😁

Pls give reviews of The Heiress and A Place in the Sun. I'm not very much into such old movies (beside from the aesthetics). But if you say they're worth the watch I'll give it a try

Extended cut. 🤓

And I already watched The Heiress and it was really good. I'm also not that into these old movies, expecially if they are black and white. But I liked The Heiress very much and could seen the similarity to the Ernest/Mollie dynamic. Olivia de Havilland was great.

I got my copy of "The Heiress"

I also bought again "Dance with wolves" - this time the theatrical cut. I've heard this cut is much better than the overlong extended version (too many unnecessary scenes what hurts not only the pace of the story but weaks it). I'm just too curious which I like better 😁

"A Place in the Sun" is on paramount+. What's the connection here to KOTFM?

Leo said A Place in the Sun was used as an example for the Ernest/Mollie relationship/the american dream and the greed aspect.

Thanks :flower:

I watch it right now. Montgomery Clift is really handsome but a bit dickish so far.

Elizabeth Taylor is drop dead gorgeous no wonder he falls for her head over heels.

Edit: Ok I'm halfway through and I fear he's more than "a bit dickish" 🙈🤣

I can clearly see the parallels to KOTFM. This Montgomery dude is really good you can tell exactly what he's thinking just by the look of his face.

Overall a surprisingly watchable movie.

Looks like he had a troubled short life.

After my second viewing of KOTFM, I have to comment on the accent Cara Jade Myers used for Anna. I haven’t seen any comments about it anywhere, but I couldn’t help but notice the accent is not an Oklahoma accent at all. It’s more of a Georgia Southern Belle accent. With the dropped R’s and lilting cadence. It’s so obvious that it had to be a conscious choice between her and Marty. Perhaps it’s Anna putting on airs in a sense with her being a party girl with lots of money? Anyway, just found it an interesting character choice.
