Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan film The Great Gatsby at Sydney's White Bay in Rozelle in sunshine

AS they say in the movie industry, "It's a wrap". Except now it's not.

The Baz Luhrmann epic The Great Gatsby, slated to finish filming just before Christmas last year, continued its marathon shoot yesterday after Sydney's wet summer plagued the production.

Back in town, and striding around the White Bay power station set in a powder pink suit, star Leonardo DiCaprio was joined by Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan to shoot several more key scenes as Luhrmann grabbed whatever slivers of sunshine Mother Nature offered up.

The prolonged shoot has sparked rumours as to how much Luhrmann's $120 million budget - propped up by a sizeable grant from the state government - has blown out.

One well-placed source estimated the delays are coming at a cost of up to $1 million per day, while a rep for the film declined to confirm the rumoured blowout, saying only, "no comment".

Another on-set source claimed the $1 million per day figure was "incorrect".

It is understood that set rebuilding is accounting for much of the extra cost, and some of the cast are also said to be receiving extra payments to postpone other projects they are scheduled to be filming.

Thanks, Princess... wow, $1 million per day is a lot of money.

EDIT: Just read that Naomi Watts will play Princess Diana... I'm really happy for her.
