September 1, 20159 yr Cosmo interview: Meeting Lindsay Ellingson is like meeting an angel sent from heaven (seriously, her résumé includes the coveted title of a VS Angel). Her hair is perfectly golden, her skin is porcelain, and her makeup is somehow flawless. She's basically the definition of beauty, so it's not surprising that she is co-founder and creative director of the beauty line, Wander Beauty. The line launched earlier this year and Ellingson will be adding brow pencils, liquid eye shadows, gel eyeliners, and Wander Beauty's first capsule collection to the brand in September. Cosmopolitan.com sat down with the model to talk about new additions to the makeup line, what makes her feel sexy, and her biggest insecurity. What makes you feel sexy? I feel the sexiest when my husband picks out my outfit. He always wants me in ripped jeans and a T-shirt, and I'm like, This is great. I'm so comfortable. He also loves a smoky eye, and I love it too. I feel great when I'm in a really rusty-brown smoky eye with a nude lip. Speaking of your husband, what is your favorite date night activity to do with him? We live in Chelsea [in NYC], so we'll ride our bikes down the West Side Highway, go to Shake Shack in TriBeCa, and get a burger. You eat burgers?! I do! What does your diet look like? My diet is all over the place, but I try to keep it really clean. I do have my indulgences, though — you have to have a balanced life. Mexican food is my ultimate favorite. I just signed up for Blue Apron, so I'm cooking a lot more with my husband. It's fun to work together and cook in the kitchen and have a home-cooked meal. Do you prefer to wear makeup or go makeup-free? Makeup. I never leave my house without my brows done and any blemishes covered. And if I have to leave my house in a hurry to walk my dog, I'll throw on a hat and glasses and go. Do you still have insecurities even though you're a model? Yeah, one of my biggest insecurities is my eyebrows — that's like my ultimate insecurity. I would never show up to a shoot without my eyebrows penciled in a little bit and I never leave home without my brows done because they really are so sparse. Somebody once convinced me when I was younger that my eyebrows were too thick and that I should wax them, so I did. They never grew back. And then the day I started modeling, the first thing the makeup artists asked me was, "What happened to your eyebrows?" I was like, Oh my god, is there something wrong with me? That's definitely one of my biggest insecurities. I try to focus on the positive as much as I can. It used to really upset me when makeup artists would say that. But over time, I've learned to embrace my imperfections. Nobody is perfect and perfect is so boring. What other bad beauty horror stories do you have? I was asked once to dye my hair platinum blonde for a job. It was a big job, so it was great that I got to do that, but then I had really damaged hair for a month. It accentuated all the redness in my face and didn't look good on me at all. Being a beautiful model, you must get catcalled on the streets often, right? What is that like? Yeah, I have. I'm trying to remember the last time I got catcalled because I'm normally walking my dog in ripped jeans, a hat, and my glasses. I really appreciate chivalry. The cab driver today literally stopped in traffic, got out of the car, and opened the door for us. It was so nice. I appreciate that more than a catcall. What beauty tips do you swear by? Putting illuminator on your lips. You can either put it on before or after your lipstick. Our On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator is perfect for this because of its creamy, sheer formula. If you put the illuminator on before your lip color, it kind of blurs the line of your lips and makes them appear fuller, which I've learned to do through Victoria's Secret, of course. Another one is to use blue eyeliner to make the whites of your eyes even brighter. And, if you have light eyes, it makes them pop even more. How do you get perfect glowing skin? I use a lot of all-natural skincare. I exfoliate three times a week. I love Derma E, their microdermabrasion exfoliant. It's amazing. And I swear by rosewater spray. I really like the Whole Foods [one] — the Heritage rosewater spray is great. I spray it all the time throughout the day. It's kind of a relaxing thing and it gives you that glow. And then ultimately, strobing. Our new Catch the Light Highlighter gives you that glow. Just swipe a little on your cheekbones, underneath your brow bone, on top of your eyebrows, on your lips. You can even do it down your nose to make it appear a little bit slimmer. http://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/beauty/a45334/lindsay-ellingson-wander-beauty/
