In Memoriam: Vampirehorde (1981-2023)

 

It has been a few months since I found out about this upsetting news and I am still processing it all 😢 @VampireHorde was someone I kept in touch with IRL and I considered him a friend. I did sense something was up when he stopped responding to my messages and thought he was upset with me. Come to find out he has passedHe might have came off as an arrogant douchebag on forums, but he really had a heart of gold and a very kind soul💖 I miss Martin dearly. He will forever hold a special place in my heart❤️🫶 Rest in Paradise, Buddy🌈🕊️

Hi everyone, this is Martin/Vamp’s sister. After gaining access to this account, I am posting a brief summary of his absence on his behalf. Exactly one year ago today, Martin passed in the early hours of the morning and was laid to rest the following month. The cause remains unknown and no further details were divulged to his surviving family members.
 

Whether you knew Martin from numerous game guides written in the early 2000s, a high fashion scanning contributor, or as one of the first people in line for a VA autograph signing, he was simply my brother who had looked after me since we were kids. His presence at home is greatly missed, and his love for the art of video games remains as a huge influence amongst our family.

This account will remain open as his memorial. Any comments going forward will most likely be made by me (Martin’s sister).

I remember him as a good guy with awesome scans and a sharp tongue that often made me laugh so hard. Though we may not have been super close, I wish his family and friends nothing but peace and comfort during this difficult time. May they find solace in the memories they shared with him. ❤️❤️

Felt compelled to post something here. I still occasionally lurk, and happened upon this sad news earlier today. I was upset to see so few replies and then thought 'well, you're only compounding that if YOU don't reply yourself' - so I came back, despite not posting here in umpteen years!

 

Sure enough, as PinkCouture intimated, he was a surly character; but then for me to complain that a member was pithy or belligerent would be rather like the "pot calling the kettle black"! However he always struck me as someone who read people's posts and therefore knew their predilections. And that he didn't suffer fools, the fly-by-nights, or the ungrateful... I'd often get a private message from him with links to UHQ Behati pics or other such information - of which I was always thankful.

 

I'm not qualified to say whether this place is still that sort of community (although I'm happy to see some familiar names above though), or whether those were halcyon days, but he felt like an integral part of my enjoyment of it here and I salute him. 🫡
