No. We like ridiculously, implausibly hot chicks that you can never find IRL. And when I saw Kelly at the NYSE I thought that those guys must be thinking that they'll see hotter girls when they go out to bars after work. I'm still not convinced this is true for the majority. Most of my guy friends/guys I've dated, as well as users on some of the heavily male sites that I frequent, could give two craps about models, even really hot ones, and spend most of their time instead looking at their FB friends' bikini pics, random hot girls on Instagram, and amateur photobucket rips. And I think there's a reason porn stars like Lexi Bloom are so popular. Or that Girls Gone Wild exploded in the 90s. My understanding was that "normal hot" = more attainable = easier to fantasize about having sex with. But of course I like the implausibly hot ones. So it would be more fun for me if more guys I knew were into the fantasy chicks like I am, lol. No, I agree that not everyone was necessarily coming from a racist standpoint. Some here and there might have been, there's no way to tell, although statistically there were probably at least a few. But yes, people were all over Charlotte M, Emily R, Kate U back in the day, etc. I didn't/don't like that either. Half the time it seems totally baseless, or only because the girl has big boobs and hasn't stuck to a Lara Stone type of career, or just because they don't particularly like the model and have no better criticism to level. It's an over-the-top insult for something that is so rarely grounded in anything rational, and comes off both lazy and like something a catty high school girl would say (which makes sense, since some of the users on this board are probably young enough to actually BE high school girls). Seeing people say "omg Rose she is so slutty looking" in their broken English really rubbed me the wrong way because, while all of the aforementioned girls actually HAVE adopted some pretty 90's Playboy-esque looks in the past or present (not that I care), Rose's pics were just some chick doing what every single other model was doing. Hell, Hailey Clauson even had the no-holds-barred "f**k me, I'm a pornstar" open-mouth stare going on in some of her pics (not that I'm complaining, that's for sure), and yet Rose was OMG SO CHEAP! because her pics involve poses that 99% of every other SI swim model has used?? If anything she was too tame in some of her shots, even some of the naughty ones still have the "I'm so HAPPY!" cheer and joy of a tampon ad. tl;dr Why can't everyone have the sexily European sensibilities of frenchkiki?

Agreed that Sam Hoopes has a wonky, weirdly-shaped breast thing going on. If they are fake, the surgeon needs to be punched in the genitals. If you seriously think Rose's pics are "slutty" or look like something from Playboy, I highly encourage you to go back and compare them to the shots of all the rest of the girls. Don't just write it off as "it's subjective and that's how I feel!" Apply a little critical thought to it. Or don't, maybe it's more comfortable not to. Hailey Clauson does not have my definition of a perfect beach body. However, her smile is awesome and she's just insanely sexy in a cool, effortless-looking kinda way that I dig. Her pics are some of my favourite of the year. Emily R has the best body ever. I don't understand it. I still don't think she's a great fit for SI, there's absolutely no good reason that she can look mind-blowing in candids on the STREET and yet can't look even 1/4th as amazing in a professional shoot. She's not the greatest at modelling/posing, so maybe some of it's on her, even though somehow she still manages to look better in almost every other shoot she does, so... 1000% better than last year, though. Solveig = walking dead? Kelly is pretty hot, in the same way that scores of girls I've known IRL are hot. That could be a selling point for some people, especially the average straight dude. Chrissy Teigein is infinitely more charming when she smiles. Also I doubt she gets botox. Her skin will hold up awesomely, she just has a round/full face. Hannah Davis has beautiful eyes. I enjoy looking at her. Love the location, I think it was smart to put a non-beach location on the cover. But something about her (and her shots) bores me. Yu Tsai kinda blows. I adore Sampaio and her little butt. NIna <3 Awesome bod, great shots, perfect location. Stop trying to make Kate Bock happen... it's not going to happen. Gigi's hot, although sometimes I do find her face odd in a way that I feel like no one ever talks about. We all know Emrata doesn't have the average model face, but nobody ever talks about the occasional strangeness of Gigi's head. I still love her, although I'll take her Guess shots over this stuff any day... All the sites I frequent are pretty much only talking about Robyn Lawley. Eh oh. She looks thinner than both Kate U from last year, as well as Ariel Meredith this year, but throw in the word "plus sized" and it's a clickbait feeding frenzy. Not the biggest fan of her face. Erin Heatherton and Lily Aldridge should have a contest to see who can look more bored.

Maybe? IDK if Gigi's mom said that tho but it could be. I'm not 100% sure but I think I remember reading once that Bar was promised the 2008 cover but she opened her mouth about it and SI got mad and the cover ultimately went to Marisa Miller. I don't know how true this is tho but I can see SI being annoyed at that kind of attitude. Kate's pedigree was enough to nab her the cover. Congressmen uncle, connections to the white house, a billionaire family and one of the largest known manufacturing companies in the world standing behind her. Kate didn't need a man, she had money, and connections and those things win everything in America. More importantly: SI knew she would sell. End of story. It's a business and they want to sell as many magazines as possible while pleasing as many people as they can (swimsuit designers, staff, etc.). Time will tell if Hannah was a good or bad choice but I honestly don't see how this cover could be something too awfully wrong that will stop people from buying. Not sure I agree with this. Clearly, even by objective measures, Gigi and Emrata are more popular and well-known than Hannah. Going by the "sell as many copies as possible" logic, Hannah was indeed a poor choice, or at least an extremely risky one. The general public doesn't know who she is, or seem to care going by most people yapping about the "plus sized" model instead of the cover. However I don't necessarily agree that the biggest name should automatically get the cover, so I'm not mad at it. Also, are we sure Gigi's mom just didn't pull that out of her ass because someone said "ROTY material!" or "gigi's leading in the ROTY polls right now!" That seems like a pretty standard mom mistake. One time I told my mom I was going to see the last Harry Potter film and because of that she still insists it's my favourite fantasy series ever, surmising that it's probably because of that nice Gandalf man. #momthings

Yep, I remember similar comments about last year's cover. Every year, same shit, different morons. It's like every year people find a new way to be shocked that there are girls on the cover of SI not wearing much. The comments on Hannah's cover are almost identical and equal in volume to the ones I saw about last year's cover, and the year before that. My problem with the cover and the pose isn't that it's vulgar or trashy, it's just so generic and standard. That's why it's hilarious anyone would "react" to that kind of pose at all, considering it's so bloody average and overdone. On slightly less mouth-breathing, middle-aged outragey sites, the reception I've seen so far is that everyone thinks her boobs look fake (they do look ridiculously ps'd), or that people don't really know who she is. Most of the talk has been about the "plus sized model." And on that note, could that commercial get any more patronising? "Look at this big girl strutting down the beach, let's make sure to show dudes LOSING THEIR MINDS over her! These cartoonish reactions from paid actors will finally prove that everyone in the world is attracted to larger body types despite it rarely being healthy!"

Sometimes certain types of girls are meaner when they're young, especially if you don't dress like an absolute nun to cover up your new funbags. Mostly they'll insist to anyone who will listen that you had a boob job, but they might also just stick to calling you a slut. I guess some guys here and there can be creeps about it. I think that's all generally outweighed by the positives, though. I'm sure Charlotte agrees or she would've gotten rid of them by now. Luckily most people mellow out as they get older. And even if they don't, most of those mean chicks just gain tons of weight once they hit their 20's, get larger breasts, and as a result will start finding different (yet equally transparent) reasons to be shitty to others. on topic: Charlotte's AMA got hardly any response O_O

She is incredibly hot and I'm glad she got the cover (even though seriously I'm an idiot, because I thought the "we've got Hannah Davis" on the 2013 cover theory was hogwash). But I am not a huge fan of that cover... airbrushing is awful and the pose is kinda forgettable, just looks a bit generic to me.

Well obviously I'm going to think this, I like her, but I don't get the "trashy/Playboy" stigma Emrata gets around these parts. Yeah she did a bunch of Fredericks stuff when she was trying to "make it," gets naked a lot, etc., but she herself in her personal life clearly has a very very different vibe from someone like McKinney, more of a bohemian thing going on. I understand not liking her face, or calling her a hipster, 2edgy4me, dirty hippie, etc., but I don't understand taking naked or sexual straight to "trashy" like some people seem to. Then again, I'm probably even more biased, because I'm naked RIGHT NOW. And no one can stop me!
