There was an article written back in 2012: http://www.businessinsider.com/racism-at-victorias-secret-a-brief-history-2012-11 Good article. But I think Karlie's made headlines because it was the most striking example, "a native american outfit to represent Thanksgiving", more than the cliches VS is used to, like white girls for the country segment, or black girls for the wild segment as mentioned. And maybe on a different girl it would have been the same? Just guessing, again I'm not american so I can't be sure. But back to the show, I have a question, for how long has Lindsay been an angel? (Assuming she's out after this year)

Indeed. Let's not talk about racial diversity/asian and black girls/and so on, since everyone thinks differently about those arguments, and they'll never come to an end. This on the other hand was a giant mistake that everyone but them saw. Even I, being as european as you can get, could see it. I still don't understand why nobody thought it was inappropriate.

Only if it were remixed, tbh. It's a good song in general, but not a catwalk song at all. However, I could see VS being like "fuck it" and just using it anyway. It could work for a slower segment maybe? They've always used songs that were so not catwalk, I'm thinking about Say Something, but made them work anyway. Blank Space is not a catwalk song at all, therefore I'm sure they'll use it. The other alternatives are Shake It Off and Out Of The Woods, and I really hope they'll use this one. There's also Welcome to New York but they're not even thinking about this one...right?

None taken, maybe I just didn't express myself well. As Arielle said, for the regular Joe they're just girls walking down a runway, yeah they're hot and all, but it's not enough to bring attention from all kind of audiences. There are people like us who actually care about models/outfits, and then there are people who don't give a damn as long as there are hot girls AND some kind of entertaining thing. Performers bring this thing, imo, the trick is obviously trying to find balance. Just my thoughts tho.

In the past few years it's always been about the performers more then about the models. The ratings rely on that, and they have to do as much as they can to increase ratings. Bringing popular performers is the easiest way, and even if I want to focus on the models as everyone, I can't totally blame VS for certain choices.
