Isabeli Fontana is one of the most “super” of today’s models, being named an “industry icon” by Models.com due to her countless covers and impressive roster of clients. We got a few moments with Isabeli to talk about her style, Brazil and what her best green tips are.
If Isabeli Fontana hadn’t been a model she would’ve wanted to work in the arts, or perhaps be a singer. Based in Brazil and with two sons, Isabeli Fontana is still the model mum (in both senses of the word), jetting abroad for her high-profile shoots, but when she’s not working you can find her on the beach together with her kids – running around barefoot “like a hippie.”
Name three things everyone should have in their wardrobe?
Masterpieces: jeans, a black top and a leather jacket.
Who are your style icons?
Steven Tyler and Rihanna.
Where are you living now?
At the moment, I am between São Paulo and New York, but I spend most of my time in Brazil, travelling in and out for work. My home is in Brazil with my sons.
Why do you think Brazil is such a hot fashion destination right now?
The sea, the people, the culture… It’s such a vibrant destination. There is a lot of creativity in Brazil that is gaining a lot of recognition – it’s very exciting for us Brazilians!
Do you have any tips or favourite local designers?
I really like Morena Rosa and Tufi Duek
What’s your best green tip?
Recycle! It’s so easy to do and really has an impact on the environment by decreasing how much waste we put out. I also shop for organic foods and products when possible. We need to start doing our best to protect our planet for our children.
What are you concerned about most with the environment?
The severe weather, and how it has changed during recent years. It really shows you how much we have polluted this planet and that we really need to focus on being more eco-friendly.
