One more interview from Metzingen http://www.stylerank...er-werden-90465 It's in German again, but here is the translation I've made. Sorry for the mistakes, German and English are both foreign to me. __________________________________ Lars Burmeister: “I didn’t want to become a one hit wonder” On international catwalks he enjoys success, at the Fashion & Music Festival in Outletcity Metzingen he answered my questions – Lars Burmeister on modeling, his career and why he values German virtues. By Hannah Hilgers, Styleranking.de Styleranking: Tell me, Lars, what has been your experience by now here at the event? Lars Burmeister: I have been on the stage once (editor's note: Fashion Talk - Perfect Styling) - that was pretty exciting! This is something I don’t do often, usually I'm very cautious and – believe it or not – rather camera shy. Styleranking: So what were your feelings like on the stage? Lars Burmeister: It was really thrilling. I had been crazily nervous, and it had taken me an extra hour to get ready and combat the stage fright, but then suddenly everything went so fast and my excitement was blown away. But the stage was impressive. When I saw it, first I thought "Wow", but Collie (editor's note: Collien Ulmen-Fernandes, moderator of the Fashion Talks) did a great job, so that you don’t feel lost. And talking to Bonnie Strange and Betty Amrhein was quite nice. Styleranking: At the Fashion Talk you discussed the perfect styling. What is your ultimate styling tip for a man getting ready for the first date? Lars Burmeister: I was afraid that you would ask me this (laughs). Definitely you should not disguise yourself and dress up on any occasion. You have to be authentic - not too constricted, relaxed. It all depends on the date and the location, just choose something a bit fancier in the evening, perhaps even shorts in the afternoon – anything will do! The main thing is that you should feel good! Styleranking: Let's talk a little about modeling. How did you come to this? Lars Burmeister: Honestly – I got involved in the story so quickly (???). Everything happened so fast, and timewise it was perfect for me after my graduation. In less than two months I was on my way. At first I got reassured by my people and I wanted to know their opinion (???), whether the whole thing was worth doing, and I should throw myself into it. I didn’t want to become a one hit wonder. Styleranking: So did your people give you the right advice then? Lars Burmeister: Yes, everyone said to me that I had a good chance to go far. And then I just started to do sports, I started jogging to get rid of my baby fat. And right from the beginning I have had the German virtues – I have always been punctual, never dropped a job, haven’t celebrated excessively. Styleranking: Very commendable ... Lars Burmeister: Yes, people keep telling me that, and I'm certainly proud of it. That’s just what I am. If I have a job and I know people will pay lot of money for me, then there's a lot of work behind it, and I start to work flat out. I invite a personal trainer to get myself prepared intensively for two weeks by going on a healthy diet and doing a lot of sports, so that the people feel satisfied with my work. Styleranking: You said you started modeling shortly after graduation. What were your original plans after school? Lars Burmeister: In terms of time it fitted perfectly. At the time I was somewhat in limbo, but I think I would have otherwise gone to the automotive industry. I'm so crazy about cars and would have probably got trained to be a car salesman. Styleranking: But then everything changed ... Lars Burmeister: I must say I've had good luck. I think taking that chance with modeling was very lucky. I have traveled a lot and met many people, I have been in some most incredible places. I have done some really nice jobs. Styleranking: ... which that would be? Lars Burmeister: Well, the first five years were so extreme. If you start as a model, then you go to Milan or Paris and then you start doing shows. Then someone discovers you and you are hyped. Casting directors are starting to talk about you, you are а "new face" and everyone says "Oh, I've discovered you!" - I hear that even now from different people. Everyone wants to have discovered you all of a sudden! (laughs) Styleranking: I can imagine a lot of people would want to share your success! But what, then, have your career highlights been? Lars Burmeister: After I did a few shows and was noticed, I did my first jobs for Louis Vuitton. Then Hugo Boss added to it and I did some campaigns with Julia Stegner. Then the Armani Acqua di Gio perfume campaign came – that was a privilege for me. Everyone envied me. For a model it is a high point of the career – a global campaign and of the world's best-selling men's fragrance, too. So I had a small party then. Styleranking: Do you think some day one gets too old to be a male model? Lars Burmeister: I can well imagine that eventually you get too old for modeling. But they say men are like wines that mature with age and get better (laughs). I've been very lucky. I’ve been in the industry for nine years now. I'm just a classic type. As time goes by, some doors close and you lose customers, but then new doors open. Styleranking: Is there a plan B in case things start going not so well? Lars Burmeister: Right now, honestly, no, but I’m just doing too well. Styleranking: Then we wish you further success and thank you very much for a nice interview! _______________________________ Photos from fashion-music.net

Sadly, my German is next to non-existent now, so I could hardly understand a word of what Lars said. But he is so adorably humble . Hate his shoes though :yuckky: !
