Britney Spears vows Baby Phat fashion show
Spears, an ardent follower of the Baby Phat line, vowed everyone at designer Kimora Lee Simmons' Fall 2007 collection in New York on Friday (02 Feb 2004), attired in a slinky black spaghetti-strapped dress with a décolletage that sure rested the eye.
The pop tart flew in to New York from Las Vegas on Friday, putting on hold work on her new album with Dr Luke. Upon arrival at the Roseland Ballroom, accompanied with body guards and several friends not including boytoy Issac Cohen, Spears posed for photographers. She was escorted to her front-row seat just moments before the show started.
During the show, "Britney seemed to enjoy herself," an attendee told Us Magazine. She occasionally chatted with her assistant. When model Alek Wek strutted past in a colorful halter dress that dragged on the floor in the back but was a mini-dress in the front it was Britney's turn to be vowed. "Oh my god," she said and applauded with the rest of the crowd.
After the show Spears told People, "It was amazing."
When asked how she likes being single she responded, "It's awesome."
Backstage after the show, designer Simmons spoke out in support of her friend, "Sometimes she gets a hard rap...[but] she is a very talented girl."
The Baby Phat line, established by designer Kimora Lee Simmons in 1998, is characteristically flamboyant, colorful, and bright. Simmons and her talent have earned a steady following which includes Paula Abdul, Britney Spears and Alicia Keys.
The Baby Phat fashion show is part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
