  1. Raúl on Onda Cero "We've recovered the team's values" Raúl said on radio programme Al Primer Toque that Saturday's clash with Zaragoza "will be the most important game of the League." The captain pointed out that criticism will be silenced if they win the League. "I'm sure many critics will be silenced if we win," he said. "We are in a privileged position to become League champions," he added, "We must win every game because Sevilla and Barcelona will do too. We've recovered the team's values in our last few games. We are now a strong, proud and united team. We've realised we are capable of achieveing great things this way." "I'm happy on the team. I hope to be this happy on Saturday after the game," he said. When asked about the possibility of Ronaldinho's red card being rescinded this weekend, Raúl bluntly answered, "He was sent off, but I'm not worried if he plays of not. I only think about Zaragoza." The captain also praised Fabio Capello's work. "He is one of the people responsible for making this a leading team. We didn't play well at first, but the atmosphere at the Club and on the squad gradually changed throughout the season." Concerning his future, Raúl pointed out he still has three more years on his contract and that he will make a decision when he sees them through. Nevertheless, he said he wants to "carry on playing. My legs will be alright, but we'll have to see how my mind is." He didn't avoid talking about Real Madrid's future. "I don't believe in revolutions and I think the core of the team next season will be this year's squad. Some important players will leave us, such as Roberto Carlos. He's been one of the best foreign players this team has ever had and he should be carried off the field on people's shoulders." To finish off, Raúl commented on the Spanish Olympic Committee's decision of writing lyrics for the Spanish national anthem. "It would make me very happy if the national anthem is given lyrics." He also gave his opinion on the controversy surrounding Barcelona's Xavi for supposedly forcing a fifth booking in the first Spanish game, allowing him to return to Barcelona as he wouldn't be able to play the next Spanish fixture. "It's silly to think they did that. Every player on the national team defends the country's interests and I doubt any of them would pull such a stunt."

  3. Pippo's favourite year Filippo Inzaghi ends his season on a high after success with Milan and Italy. “This’ll be the best vacation of my life!” Although he did not find the back of the net in Lithuania, SuperPippo played his part in the 2-0 win. “Tonight we knew we needed a performance like this. It was only right that I sacrifice myself and work for the squad after they helped me to score so many goals. “I am going on holiday now and I think it will be the best vacation of my life! Last year we didn’t have a break after the World Cup and with the early Milan recall, so to win the Champions League and get six crucial points with the Azzurri I am on a real high.” He bagged a brace in the 2-1 win over Liverpool and then repeated the trick in the Euro 2008 qualifier in the Faroe Islands. “It would be too much to expect a repeat of this season, but one lives in hope! People in my line of work live for nights like the one in Athens. “What makes me even happier is that I am alright physically after only a brief problem in January. I’m almost disappointed the season has ended, as I’m in great shape!” This week Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani complimented Inzaghi on his work rate and training regime. “Everyone can see what you do on the field, but behind the scenes is another situation. I am very honoured that Milan praised me,” said the striker. “As for Italy, to be at home and watch them from there is painful for me. It is an incredible feeling to pull on the Azzurri jersey and represent your country.” With Francesco Totti, Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta stepping away from international football, was Inzaghi ever tempted to pack it in? “In all honesty I have never considered retirement. I did not have much of an impact on the World Cup, even if I was able to score a goal in my 20 minutes. “The compliments I received from my teammates at the tournament spurred me to carry on and I am always at the disposal of my country.” The famous goal poacher did get a little ratty at Antonio Di Natale this evening when the Udinese man went for glory despite Inzaghi being in a better scoring position. “Di Natale and Fabio Quagliarella are exceptional, it is impossible to be angry with them. I do know the situation full well, as I’ve shot from there enough times with a teammate clear!” The squad banded together after the bitter criticism of Roberto Donadoni’s choices in the 2-1 win over the Faroe Islands. “Donadoni was a player and so he understands where we are coming from. We knew there was tension in the media, but he is very much appreciated by the side and we get on very well with him.”

    ShahRukh Khan

SRK Studios! Buzz is that King Khan wants to buy the landmark Mehboob Studio, but he denies having the financial resources. However, he does admit that he is dying to give Mumbai a world-class film studio Every few months, there are fresh rumours that Mehboob Studio is up for sale. This time, they came attached with Shah Rukh Khan’s name. The buzz is, SRK is keen to buy a studio and when he heard that the Bandra studio was up for sale, he showed interest. Here, Khan clarifies whether he is turning studio mogul in the near future or not. We hear you’re planning to buy a studio? I am dying to buy a studio! But property rates have become unaffordable. I should’ve bought one three years ago. There was a lovely property in Bandra-Kurla Complex that I was interested in but I thought it was over-priced. It was pegged at Rs 80 crore then, and I didn’t have that kind of money. With Kaun Banega Crorepati 3, I got the money and I thought I would buy the property, but the price has more than doubled. It is over Rs 200 crore now! So now that KBC 3 is over, it’s confession time. Did you really get Rs 100 crore for the show? I’ll admit that I got a lot of money. In fact, I could have put up a studio with the money I got from KBC four years ago. But now, even with the KBC money, I can’t afford it. The studio would never be able to sustain itself. Besides, where is the space? How about a studio outside Mumbai? I don’t want to go out of Mumbai. I want to do it here. At the risk of sounding too pompous, I think the city deserves a world-class studio. And I think I should be allowed to do it because I’ve done well for the Bombay film industry as it has done well for me. I think it’s a good mix, and I will do it wonderfully. I will make the world’s greatest studio.
