Kaka To Sign New Contract After All Milan superstar Kaka is set to sign a new contract with the club worth £6.4m a year, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport. The Brazilian has been the number one transfer target of Real Madrid for at least a couple of years now, with Spanish rivals Barcelona and Premiership giants Chelsea also confirmed admirers. However it now seems that their interest will finally be put to bed with the news that Kaka is to pen a new deal until 2012 worth a whopping £6.4m a year. This is a raise of £2.4m on his current contract and will run until the Selecao star is 30-years-old. Kaka’s contract extension will be officially revealed to the world once he is crowned as the winner of the prestigious Ballon d’Or on December 2. The 25-year-old is the odds-on favourite for the prize, with many Italian newspapers reporting earlier this week that Milan have already begun Kaka’s travel arrangements to and from the ceremony.
  8. Raúl: "We have to support Spain; I'm sure they'll make it to the Euro 2008" Spain will face Sweden at the Bernabéu tonight, being only one point away from qualifying to the Euro 2008. Raúl is convinced the Reds will make it and he gives them all his support. If Spain defeat Sweden, they would mathematically be qualified to play in the Euro 2008. They currently depend on themselves to make it. On Wednesday they will play against Northern Ireland. The Santiago Bernabéu will be the venue for tonight's clash, with a crowd of 75,000. "Spain's next couple of games are very important," said Raúl, "The most important thing right now is the clash with Sweden. The Spanish national team is one step away from making it to the Euro 2008; let's hope they take it tonight. We should all unite to support the team. The fans will respond well, as they always do, and I'm sure a packed stadium will drive the team to a victory."

I am not at war with Salman: Priyanka Chopra This Diwali was quite eventful for Priyanka. She re-discovered how young she is. "I actually started my career earlier than Sonam Kapoor, Harman Baweja, etc. I keep forgetting I belong to their group." For Diwali this year Priyanka discovered the fun part of herself at Sonam's place. "I know Sonam's father (Anil Kapoor) from the time we did Salaam-e-Ishq together. I really like Anilji. Sonam I've known from long before. She's part of the same gang as Harman (Baweja) and my other friends. So when she invited me to her home I gladly went and had myself a rocking evening." Priyanka says she doesn't mind the image of a serious mature actress. "But people forget I'm only 25. Because I've been around for three years and done roles of full-blooded woman rather than girls people presume I belong to an older age-bracket. About time I changed that perception." How does she intend to do that? "By maybe getting a life beyond my work. At the moment my entire life revolves around my shooting. Currently I'm shooting for Drona and God Tussi Great Ho." And she seems to be having an equal amount of shared fun with both her co-stars Abhishek Bachchan and Salman Khan, though her relations with the latter are said to be far from cordial. "Says who?" Priyanka shoots back. "Salman and I are fine with each other. I don't carry any ill-will to work. Neither does he. We're having a ball shooting God, Tussi Great Ho. And now that it's nearly over I wish someone else would sign us for another film." Priyanka's Diwali started early. "My Diwali started when I went for the premiere of Saawariya. It's such a beautifully-shot film. Both Ranbir and Sonam are the superstars of tomorrow," she ends diplomatically.

Priyanka Chopra at Hyatt Regency to endorse Lux Crystal Lux brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra announced the launch of a new variant of the 'soap for the stars' - Lux Crystal Shine at Hyatt Regency Friday, November 16. Earlier this year Priyanka Chopra was designated the new face for Lux, displacing Kareena Kapoor. Priyanka is believed to have been paid a hefty sum for the endorsement, TV and print campaigns which have been shot by the top-of-the-line names in the business. Lux has recently launched a variant of the soap, Lux Crystal Shine. It is claimed to have the shine of crystals and drops of moisturizer in it to give the skin a glow. It comes in a new packing with a new fragrance. The campaign for the new variant, which features Priyanka, was Indianized from an Argentinian campaign, known as Lux Neon Girl, that has won many creative accolades. Priyanka's footage has been digitally inserted into the original campaign eliminating the need to reshoot it.

Button confident Brawn will revive fortunes Jenson Button is confident Ross Brawn will be able to revive Honda's fortunes when he joins the outfit at the end of the month. Button's latest comments come after he warned Honda bosses he wouldn't stand for another poor season and if significant improvement is not made, he would be looking elsewhere for the 2009 season. "I'm really happy and I think Ross is what the team needs," Button said. "Ross has so much F1 experience." "While one man doesn't turn a whole team around, his input, guidance and direction are going to make a massive difference," he added. "He's done it all before and I'm looking forward to working with him."

Maldini: AC Milan already preparing for Juventus AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini is already looking forward to next month's big game against Juventus. "It's great because there's such a great rivalry between the two clubs and Serie A isn't the same without Juve," the defender said. "I think it'll be a great spectacle." Milan will try and put the shocking scenes during their abandoned game with Atalanta to the back of their minds, but Maldini won't forget the day in a hurry. "I think one of the most striking images was the sight of children in the stadium who could understand what was going on," he recalled. "The fans called out to me and told me that they didn't want us to play. I told them that it wasn't up to us players, but I told the referee that the situation was very delicate."

  23. Raúl Absence Has Not Hurt Spain Ljungberg Freddie Ljungberg believes that Raúl's omission from the Spanish team has not changed much and that Sweden will still have to work very hard to earn something on Saturday evening. The West Ham United forward is relishing the prospect of facing la Selección, but is more concerned with ensuring that his country qualify for the European Championships next summer. Luis Aragonés has not chosen Raúl for Spain for over a year, but Ljungberg does not believe that his absence has hurt the team. "Raúl is a great player, but he has not been in the national team for a long time and Spain are not doing too badly," he explained. If the Swedes can hold out in the early stages, then they will be able to look for weaknesses in the Spanish defence, according to Ljungberg "We will have to hold out for the opening 20 minutes when they will attack and then we can start to look for the spaces that they leave," he continued. "The Spanish team is very aggressive when they want to win the ball back and it is important that we try to maintain possession because then there will be gaps behind them." Whichever teams loses in the Bernabéu, the pressure will be on them in the final game in midweek if Denmark defeat Northern Ireland in Belfast, but Ljungberg is only focussed on this weekend. "To play Spain is a prestigious game and we feel we can win. The fundamental thing is to ensure that we qualify. That is always the most important thing," he stated. "We want to win our final match as well and finish strongly."
  24. Ibrahimovic: Raul Could Walk Into Any National Side Inter and Sweden forward Zlatan 'Ibra' Ibrahimovic is delighted that he won't be coming up against Raul on Saturday... Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Raul is one of the greats. Much to his surprise, the striker has yet again been left out of Luis Aragones' squad, with the Inter man feeling that Raul is more than good enough for the job at hand. "I don't know why [he's not here], as he's a great player," said the Swedish striker. "He's had many great matches for both the national squad and his club. "Whether it makes us lucky or not I don't know, but there will be one less world-class player on the pitch. "His capacity as a player could get him into any national side in the world." With or without the Real Madrid star, Spain could pose a threat to Zlatan's men, but the 26 year old won't give up without a fight. "Am I scared? No," he stated. "But I do have a lot of respect. They're a very good team and have many great players in each position, so we of Sweden must be patient. "Spain likes to hold possession, and we need to play well in order to have a favourable match. "We're not afraid, but we have respect, and it'll be fun and memorable to play in a wonderful stadium." Ibra moved on to say that playing at the Bernabeu on a more regular basis would be a very interesting proposition. "Everybody wants to play with Real Madrid, but not everyone can," he began. "But you never know in future. I have a long contract with Inter, but you never know." In closing, he remarked that Spanish stopper Iker Casillas was "a very young, very great goalkeeper," but added that "after playing against [Gigi] Buffon, you can play against anyone."
