This war, and the last one is revealing a certain weakness with regard to China. Despite having the world's greatest shipbuilding & missile and drone production capacity their diplomacy is always 'tough talk' but no military action. They are literally allergic to getting into combat and are very afraid of getting labeled as 'providing lethal aid' by the West & getting sanctions that would disrupt their economy/society because it is so dependent on exporting manufactured goods and importing food, fuel, and raw materials. Only the USA and Russia are self sufficient enough to wage war on others and get away with it. I suspect in the Iran situation China will stay TF away from weapons deliveries and just engage in free trade with them like they did with Russia. They will provide Iran with the means to defend itself and final assembly will depend on the Iranians. Eventually a flood of Chinese civilian drones will enter Iran, as it did in Ukraine and the Iranians will be free to use them to destroy US-Israeli targets.

Besides that War with China and Russia is also a key obsession and they believe that the Rise of China will be weakened if the US dominates the Middle East, as China is a world trade based nation that imports energy, food, and raw materials because China itself is resource poor. The rapid decline and credibility of the US on the world stage as a supposed military superpower- The Venezuela action and other acts of violence are also an attempt to prove to the world that America still has the means to impose great violence and destruction to get whatever it wants. American nationalists, most of them poor or middle class, that want the American empire to last for a thousand years and voted for Trump to make this happen. Trump appears to be the puppet of these forces.
