Models.com has behaved badly. So many careers are influenced by these rankings, especially rankings from Models.com I'm only asking them to make intelligent choices, and to make choices that make sense. How can anyone take them seriously if their rankings are so flawed? Certainly they can number their rankings properly! 59 men when there should be 50? 64 women when there shoud be 50? Unacceptable! Models.com has bought into the hype, and they have set up their rankings to force the models to compete amongst themselves, like a pack of dogs going after a single bone. Is this in the best interest of the fashion industry? Not in the least! Perhaps it is better served to rank the models as to reward the highest quality work rather than just turning into a high school popularity contest...

Munichmarty, you wound me... The girls on models.com (MDC) are even worse. 64 women are listed on their Top 50 rankings (14 two-way ties). If the rank the models, they should at least do so responsibly. Is that such an unreasonable request to ask of them? I am crushed...

On models.com (MDC), the Top 50 ranking for the men currently has a total of 59 men. As of last count, there are duplicate entries for numbers 2, 12, 26, 28, 29, 30, 35. 44, and 49. I posted this info yesterday on models.com. I'm positive they will correct this prob immediately. Considering how many careers are involved, this is a rather disturbing error, don't you think? Rather damaging! Surely these all cannot be two-way ties. They need to change the title to the “Top 59″ or “Top 60″ or they need to learn how to number the models correctly in the event of a tie. I noticed on models.com in the Top 50 for the men, that there is a problem with the numbering. I noticed duplicate entries for numbers 2, 12, 26, 28, 29, 30, 35. 44, and 49. I read this in an article called "Bits and Bytes: 2 for 10!" on models.com "For those who don’t know, MDC has a new #1 top 50 male model. Not to fret Mathias Lauridsen fans, the Danish star will be appearing on one of our other top lists coming out soon." Also: "No, Mathias did not stop his career. At this point in his career, his agents are picking and choosing the best for him, editorially and campaign wise and really keeping him super exclusive. Betty with Models.com says in a post that they are coming out with Male Icons (working male icons) and Top Money guys and Mathias will most likely be on one of those lists. (Mathias better be #1 on the Male Icon rankings). Models.com should have presented the above Male Icons (working male icons) and Top Money guys rankings first, and then changed the Top 50. They certainly did not handle this well...

I can understand them wanting to promote new faces out in the marketplace. However, the Top 50 rankings is not the appropriate forum. They need to create a ranking called "The Top 50 newcomers." Indeed, why should Mathias suffer or be punished because models.com wants to not only force a newcomer into the spotlight but push that newcomer on others at the number one position? Do you think the industry is now going to fall all over themselves to hire Baptiste just because models.com says so? How very crass of models.com...

Belgianhare... I would LOVE to know their methodology. If they have revised their methodology... they need to state as such. I always assumed they made their determination by the entire body of work... runway, editorial, and catalogue. Certainly models.com has prepared some type of statement to explain the dramatic change in ranking?

Sheard... I agree. Certainly models.com must have known that this bizzare re-order of the rankings would cause a serious outcry and serious riot amongst the fashion community. Not only just fans of Mathias Lauridsen, but think of all the fans of Sean, Garrett, Matt, David Gandy,Taylor Fuchs, Boyd, Eddie, Jesper and fans of all the other talented models that are now in a rage. Very unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of models.com. They better correct those rankings ASAP or models.com will self-sabotage their well cultivated prestige and influence amongst the community.

Has someone hacked into models.com? I find it hard to believe Mathias would not be somewhere in the top 50. Secondly, why would an update occur on May 12th? Don't they usually update once a year in January? Thirdly, I am stunned that they truly would think Baptiste Giabiconi is the number one top fashion model over Mathias. Are they kidding? What about some of the others... Sean, Garrett, Matt, etc. etc? Something is fishy in Denmark! Evandro is not even in the top 50. Does that sound right to you? I also saw that on one or more of the screens that you click on as you get to the listings, the thumbnail picture(s) of Mathias as #1 is still in place. Seriously I tell you someone has tampered with the listings on models.com... We need to notify someone in charge, investigate and get that ranking verified ASAP.... P.S. The female rankings were updated recently and the order of the rankings seems to be logical... (whether you agree with the ranking or not)... But BAPTISTE over the like of Mathias, Sean, Garrett, Matt, David Gandy, and Taylor Fuchs? No way! Someone has injected their own personal agenda and has tampered with the rankings....
