Coco Avant Chanel Poster Banned In Paris France has a law against depicting smoking in advertising — so to avoid prosecution, the company that sells ads on Parisian public transportation banned a poster featuring Audrey Tautou as Coco Chanel holding a cigarette. Never mind that Chanel herself smoked up to 50 clopes a day. The company, Metrobus, demanded that the poster above be replaced with this more anodyne shot of Tautou and the male lead, Alessandro Nivola. Metrobus also airbrushed a film still of legendary French comedian Jacques Tati in Mon Oncle, which originally featured Tati smoking a pipe while riding a bicycle. (The still serves as a poster for a Tati retrospective, currently open, at the Cinémathèque Française.) In the new version of the poster, Tati holds a yellow windmill between his lips. France's current health minister thinks the poster bans and airbrushings are absurd. So too does Claude Evin, the former health minister responsible for the anti-tobacco advertising law in the first place. Either way, it makes for some pretty fantastic publicity for Coco Avant Chanel, which opens abroad today.

Also: Yasmin Le Bon to be set in bronze When Marc Quinn, the sculptor, unveiled a gold statue of Kate Moss last year he described her as an "ideal beauty" but his likeness faces competition from another supermodel, Yasmin Le Bon, who is also in the process of being immortalised. Jonathan Wylder, the British artist who created the bronze statue for Mother Teresa's grave in Calcutta, has started casting the "larger than life-size" bronze bust of Le Bon, 44, and should be finished this summer. Le Bon, who is overseeing her 19-year-old daughter Amber's burgeoning modelling career, says: "It is kind of wonderful. We have ended up being great friends and have bonded through a whole series of sittings." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...-in-bronze.html

Thank you PhilA and Vogue Girl! Here's some Yasmin news: Yasmin Le Bon To Design For High Street Store Wallis Nidhi Sharma - Celebrity News Service Reporter New York, NY (CNS) - Iranian-English model Yasmin Le Bon will create a collection for high street store Wallis, which is to be called YLB. The YLB collection will consist of 25 to 30 pieces inspired by Bon's personal wardrobe. The 44-year-old supermodel joins the likes of Beth Ditto and Kate Moss in creating a line for The Arcadia group's stores. The collection, which is expected to hit the stores in September, will also feature jewellery. The line looks set to be "timeless and simple with a decidedly vintage feel," Elle magazine reports. The model, who is married to Simon Le Bon, lead singer of Duran Duran, recently walked the ramp at Qasimi and was previously the face of House of Fraser. She is currently represented by Elite+ in New York City and Models 1 in London. As a model, Le Bon has represented Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bergdorf Goodman, Biotherm, Bloomingdale's, Bonwit Teller, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Christian Dior, Clairol, Escada, Filene's, Frasercard and Gianfranco Ferré, amongst others. Her daughter, Amber, is currently the face of River Island.
