Nope no Prada campaign just walked some shows. I can't believe Vogue Brazil has not had a Gisele,Adriana,Ale cover yet. That is on my wish list. Gisele Bündchen is supporting a campaign that helps needy children throughout Brazil: "even those who have very little can donate, just want to". Cool, right? I think you will only hear of well selling covers and bad selling. the mediocre ones won't get mentions. (just as everything safe I guess). The worst part for me is seeing a reality "star" selling well. I guess we can say they have taken the spot formally held by models. I think Kate and Gisele won't sell as good as actresses but there is a reason they get covers over many other models. for models; they can move mags. and of course Gisele overall sells, this is one of her biggest legacies as a model. Many love to argue why her career far surpassed her peers, when she is not even "conventionally beautiful". She's been more hit than miss. come on over 1000 covers in 15 years and we have only heard of 2 not selling well! That's not a bad track record if you ask me. I don't doubt Upton can sell just as Gisele did at that age... Gisele was super popular at age 20 as well. I'd say Gisele's glory days were 1998-2008. She's a semi retired model, mom,charity ambassador,business woman blah blah blah now (not exactly thrilling subjects to the audience young models have ...) I dont think its even fair to compare her to young, new it girls. She sells to a different market now just like Cindy,Linda,Claudia etc. Heidi is more of a tv personality anymore these days. When is the last time she modeled? All her shoots are for Cosmo and Marie Claire promoting her reality tv shows. Project Runway is successful and many Americans get to know her from that each week. If she sells I think its because she falls more under the reality tv star selling in America better than a model can... I think its most fair to categorize models like this: Tyra/Heidi 90s Supermodels/Gisele/Kate VS models/SI models fashion it girls ie; Kate,Karlie,Lara,Joan... I don't think Gi has ever been "the most popular." from what I've seen being her fan, people either love her or hate her, there is no in between (which coincidentally I think has helped her) and Tom's ex baby mama drama did not help at all.

I wasn't slamming Kate. just saying don't see the point of putting models on VF period considering their audience does not care about models (obviously) basically if Le Moss and La Gisele can't sell their covers, no model can. (imo) That was my point. Gisele didn't sell well in 09 and Kate didnt sell well in 2012. which doesn't look good for models on the cover of VF... and actually Gisele's 2007 VF cover was one of their best sellers that year. so who knows. Maybe the month has something to do with which sales best or not? I also think Gisele's hunched over "high fashion" pose on her 2009 cover was "ugly" to your average reader. and yes Im in the camp of knowing why Gisele,Kate and a few others are the go to covergirls for years and years; of course there will be hits and misses along the way but generally they sell or we simply wouldn't see them nabbing all the covers. so agree on the over-usage of the Supermodel word now days. one of my biggest pet peeves. The funniest part is when the said catalog model calls themselves supermodel, when even Cindy Crawford doesn't refer to herself as such. Want a Kate/Gisele shoot too, the last one they did was Gloria Vanderbilt. They did 09 Versace but don't know if they shot together or not. I want a 90s Supermodel (in particular: Cindy,Linda,Claudia,Helena,Stephanie,Christy,Naomi,Kate)+ Gisele Versace campaign sooooo bad. I imagine its quite hard to get all those women together at once though.

I know its different eras but Gisele still got them from 99 to 2010. but yeah defnitely harder for models now. Sometimes I think a reality star would have a bigger chance than most models would. :yuckky: (sorry for my constant nostalgia of the greatest f*cking modeling era that ever existed, lol...) damn I swear they built their new house for privacy. Since she has moved into that home in LA we get zero pap pics or sightings of her....I think she has enough there to never leave the house.

She's never had campaigns for (of any kind beauty of mainline) Gucci Fendi Prada Alexander McQueen Oscar dela Renta Alberta Ferretti Armani Balmain Blumarine Calvin Klein Max Mara Marc Jocobs Emilio Pucci Tom Ford Vivienne Westwood I'm sure there is more but those are the only bigger brands I could think of. The only ones on my wish list are the first 3. Calvin Klein is out of the question because Francisco Costa doesn't like using Brazilian models in the campaigns. (which he himself is Brazilian,weird) They're probably too sexy for the label which is more about minimal clean slate beauty.

I forget who put it like this but there are two sides of modeling; Profit & Prestige. Its amazing how Gisele has been able to balance the two. I like Tyra and Heidi but lets face it they lack any prestige within the fashion world. They're made a mockery of (not that I always agree with those high fashion snobs, but they are)... I'm sure Gisele was also, once she signed her VS contract but she proved everyone wrong and still maintained her fashion relationships. This is where alot of models go wrong once they get their mega contracts.

She has been offered TV, at least to host Brazil's Next Top Model and she declined apparently because she had no interest in a tv career. I am glad for that. I think tv would be great like how Naomi is doing it, in her 40s, but 20s and 30s is too young to "cash out" imo.

She retired from the catwalks in 2001. then she came back. and her Vanity Fair 2004 shoot she said she would model for 2 years more maximum... well that didnt happen either. haha. At her Ipanema launch in 2010 she said she is always going to be working til she is old , if she "believes in the project". I believe her. Even if modeling projects slow down, she will always be doing something with her brands and in Brazil I think. Who knows whats next for her! It seems she always tries something new out every few years.

I wonder too Jennka. although she's been retiring since 2001 ^ and she always ends up coming back. I truly think the woman is a workaholic and can't sit still/gets bored really easily.

pretty much ^. VS really helped boost her but if people think it girls and fashion darlings like Karlie,Cara,Candice,Lara etc are everywhere, Gisele was that x1000. Of course it was still "the Supermodel Era" when Gisele was a newbie so I'm sure that helped her as well. models were still on covers and such. I always say 1998 was her breakout year (her first huge year of runway,covers,campaigns,editorial) 1999 she was the "it girl/fashion darling" and by 2000 she was a full blown Supermodel. haha. Even the young(er) models today can't get American Vogue covers let alone 3 in one year at age 18/19 like Gisele did. that was huge.

Hey guys, going by her track record when there are long pauses of no new Gisele work/news usually only means one thing; She's working. I wouldn't doubt if she's already shot 5 covers and 2 campaigns. Remember she is not one of those models who tweets every single photoshoot she has done/is doing. It sometimes kills me but I like the suspense. and I know she is busy taking care of her children and family but she also has advantage of not having to travel for work much at all. They come to her now days. If we go by her last pregnancy comeback she shot Vogue US,Calzedonia,i-D at her home in Costa Rica and Vogue Korea,Vogue Mexico,Muse by her home in LA, all within months and no one had a clue. Let's hope this time is no different.
