there's more to his photography than just the 'shock value.' a lot of his most recent stuff isn't even shocking, for that matter. for me, his photography seems really honest---kinda crazy too---by revealing the superficiality of the fashion industry, and turning it on it's head by embracing it and amplifying it. his work is the complete opposite of what a lot of fashion spreads/editorials try to achieve through "glamour" as he opts to be much dirtier, sexier and his photos turn out a lot more "real" because of it. i think people like his work because they find it refreshing. also, as a photographer in general, he has such a definitive style that it's so easy to tell which editorial is done by terry... i think in that sense alone he should be respected, even if you don't care for the photos themselves.
