You don't get to decide what they chose to identify themselves as. My stepmother is from Suriname and she's mixed with everything imaginable: African, Dutch, Chinese and Indian. Yet because of the racism she experienced and people always assumed she was black at first glance, she identifies as such. Anyway, this forum is not for race topics or how people chose to identify. Please let's get back on track

I think all of the girls look really good! So glad Beachwaver contract is over and I hear LOréal is doing makeup and hair this year because of Olivier? if so..very smart decision by VS. so with 55 girls confirmed (still sad about Mayowa because that girl can walk! Defintely was one of the models I was looking forward to this year). We're left with 8-9 extra outfits, 2 of which will be in PINK (Julia + Mayowa) so I think they'll give regular girls or newbies who only had 1 look this year an extra look instead of Angels

In many countries, especially the US, mixed race people are usually considered black because of the infamous "one drop rule" that dated back to colonialism and slavery. Lais may not look "stereotypically" black but she and the other models mentioned have all considered themselves black and have been outspoken of their struggles and experiences in the industry as black models hope that helps!

This may be the most-watched VS Show we've had years...on twitter everyone is saying they're gonna watch the show now because Kendull and Gigi aren't walking and other people are more happy about the hectic yet lowkey drama surrounding the show this year lololol VS always makes stupid decisions but picking a country like China?!? as a venue? terrible idea...if they wanted to expand in Asia, it should've been Tokyo, Japan and the VSFS show should've been held there too, especially since the next Summer Olympics will be held there soon!

I'm kinda LOVING China's "no fucks given" attitude this year performers are getting cut short, model lineup which was way too long is getting cut short leaving available looks for hopefully Angels (wishful thinking) and other models and everything is so lowkey it's as if the government is behind it...VSFS 2018 SHANGHAI AGAIN PLEASEEE

So with Kate G, Julia, Irina, Daria/Dasha, Gigi and 'possibly' Mayowa out here's a little breakdown: Kate G- 1 look Julia- 1 look Irina- 2 looks (she confirmed on IG live during fittings she had 2 looks if anyone remembers) Daria/Dasha- 1 look Gigi- 2 looks ** Mayowa- 1 look ** That leaves us with possibly 7-8 available outfits for models. I don't think Angels will get 3 looks this year because of the Visa issue because if the Russians and Dasha were in PINK, surely they'll give the extra outfits to newcomers or regulars who only have 1 look. Does anyone know if Julia or Dasha were in PINK? I remember there being a board of some sorts. Mayowa was in PINK i believe but I'm not really sure..

Me too but it looks like she'll be in both Nomadic Adventure and (possibly but not confirmed) Punk Angels (most likely she'll open) since Olivier loves Adri and she's modeled for Balmain for quite a while. I like the look but it's way to similar to Maria B look last year in TRA and her look in 2015 for Fireworks which was gorgeous! this look on Adriana just looks cheap and like a Turkey Thanksgiving costume but it's Adriana and she can make a trash bag look sexy

YES! Me too my first show was in 2003 and I was so young (maybe about 12 or 13) and I remember falling in love with Tyra and Naomi (I was so shocked to discover she wasn't an Angel because she had closed 2 segements and opened 1 segment that year! She definitely got Angel treatment!). I assumed it was a one-time show too since there was none in 2004 and then when VSFS 2005 aired, I've been obsessed with my fellow Dutch tulip ? Doutzen my all time favourite shows are in order: 1. VSFS 2005, 2. VSFS 2003, 3. VSFS 2006, 4. VSFS 2008 and 5. VSFS 2010. The last OK show was in 2014 and the last PERFECT show was in 2008 imo

That's a VERY good theory ! Maybe that's why there were so many models cast this year! Because after like 54th model was announced to be walking...everyone lost their mind as to why there were so many models walking. VS knew this would happen bringing the show to a strict country like China so they probably have a backup plan already set up and ready and he way I see it, probably only 55-56 girls will be walking this year (including contest winner).

I think it was her personal decision to drop out because of the "racist" video. Asian/Chinese fans were very pissed and threatened her all over her social media how they don't want her in China so she and her agency were probably worried that she would be harmed (unlikely) OR she would be booed on stage while walking (very likely). Defintely not a Visa issue, she's been to China before several times and was here longer than the amount of time she would be there for the VSFS. Once again, like Kendull...they both just lied to cover up the fact they're not wanted lol
