Politician: somebody who pretends he has the authority, knowledge and expertise to give measured and informed opinions about subjects which are far outside his field. @Stormbringer

replace "clinical psychologist" with "somebody" and you have a damn good definition for the word "politician" ............. anyway he's also a university professor. He has authority to speak for the particular subject and his speech rung a bell. I'm not studying in USA or Canada ....in my country is not uncommon some professors (usually from the left) to be more interested in their political agendas instead of educating their students.
