Petra was the same way! She stopped modeling for years to focus on getting better and building her charity, but I think with Petra her popularity is because she's just beloved on BZ. There is nothing really to hate or dislike about her.. I've been on this forum for 12 years and I cannot think one time that Petra wasn't popular. Cameron is a pretty girl, and I don't care what anyone says, I'm positive looks factored in to how some people voted, which is natural, you vote for the things you find appealing. Cameron is developing a small cult following similar to Dasha and all it's going to take is Cameron or Dasha (who have similar looks) doing something big and mainstream and the love will be set in stone for awhile.

I think with Ale vs Adriana it comes down to fandom. Ale's fans are generally quiet about their love and Adriana's tend to be more vocal about their goddess which can trigger a lot of people. I know the claws are going to come out for this but Adriana is more of a polarizing figure and works a bit more then Ale which is awesome for her, but the more you see Adriana, the more you have a chance to pick a part all the things you may not like about her. She's not in her heyday anymore, and at this point she's damn near known as the model who won't quit VS, points a shit ton on the runway, sweaty gym pics, boy issues, with an underlying fondness of how beautiful she is, or how she's aged a bit and may not be 100% perfection anymore. Ale middle of the road. Dri is straight love or hate her.

For some it's not a matter of liking them, but rather disliking a model enough to give her really low marks. Again these girls always floated between 7 to 10 with one one or two people ever marking them down. .

I was beyond shocked to see the return of Petra, and newcomers Niamh Adkins, Marina Laswick & Anastasiya Scheglova. No one really had an issue with them and either they floated in the middle or received high marks on a constant basis. When you have no one who votes you down or very few it all balances out to what you see. Polarizing people are so hit or miss... stay in the middle of fandom and profit.

There are a couple of models who are pretty much universally loved for some reason, and everyone else is flavor of the week where their popularity rises and falls based on how much they're working, which kind of jobs the are booking and how much hype or negativity is surrounding them at the time of voting. VS girls are very hit or miss, same with SI models. Love em, or hate em. Most of the women who turned out to be constantly popular had one thing in common - they weren't extremely mainstream and thus forced down our throats all the time. If you had compared this comp to something run 10 years ago the results of the Top 10 or 20 would of been very different then what we see now... only the most popular models booking the most prestige's jobs would of won, so these results are interesting to me, and I hope for you as well.

Why? She's beautiful, she doesn't have a lot of people who dislike her, she works steadily throughout the year, doesn't have any negative press surrounding her whatsoever or super fans shoving her down the collective throats of everyone with CLARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA in every other thread on BZ, so she was bound to do well. Like I said, you'll find a lot of "middle of the road" models did very very well.

Bojana got more votes than she normally would of because SI had just come out... other than a few people who really like her, most are just apathetic or flat out dislike Bo. Emily Rata is a dead meme. Failed actress with serious weight fluctuations that have turned people off her - now add in the SJW holier than thou attitude, BFFing with a Kardashian, turning into a pap whore ... oh and she's no longer in SII and barely works outside of going to red carpet events and you get =??? People have always kinda been hit or miss with Emily. At her prime she did okay, but she still wasn't on Candice level of popularity.

@elfstone Barbara's popularity comes and goes depending on her work, plus her super fans seem to lurk exclusively in her thread, so like many other models on this list she's no longer an "it" girl till some new "sexy" body of work comes out, then everyone jumps on the Barbara bandwagon and loves her again.... however give it a couple of months and everyone who isn't a super fan will have moved onto a new flavor of the month - rinse and or repeat till the model becomes a dead meme and some new 17 year old shows up books mainstream jobs and becomes the new super "it girl". There are very few models who can stand the test of time and remain popular for years and years and years.... Welcome to the world of modeling, fickle fans, and over exposure.

@Stormbringer If you recall we only had one round of voting up to 10, all other rounds were between 1-5, so those models sitting between 2-4 are roughly 5/6/7's by the 1-10 scale. When we start seeing models who are 5+ in average scores, those are the models who scored a lot of 8/9/10's
