Reyes press conference

"Eleven finals remain, and Real Madrid aren't planning on losing or drawing any of them"

José Antonio Reyes has know he wants to stay at Real Madrid since the minute he set foot in the Spanish capital. For that reason, the Sevillian is working harder than ever to recover from a niggled left knee in order to help his team down the home stretch of the season.

How do you feel?

I am running well and today participated in the practice match with the team. My knee feels strong, so hopefully I make the next squad list.

The home stretch of the season will decide whether or not you stay at Real Madrid.

I've had a lot at stake since I first joined the team. The end of the season is just around the corner, so I have to prove my worth. But I am not worried because I know the Club has faith in me, and vice versa. We have to win, and then we'll talk at the end of the season. I wanted to play here, and I hope to stay, but whatever happens, I will never mention the word 'failure'.

What is Cristiano Ronaldo worth?

I don't know. He's a great player with the talent that few footballers possess. He would to Madrid well.

How many finals do you have to win in order to be crowned champions?

We have eleven left and we have to win them all; Real Madrid aren't planning on losing or drawing any of them. We know we have to play our hearts out.

What is more worrying, how the team plays or how the opponent plays?

The team knows what's at stake. There aren't major changes from one match to the next. All that should matter to us is us.

The Spanish national team plays tonight. Nerves are runinng wild.

It's logical. The team has yet to qualify, and players, coaches and fans are all nervous. We have a solid team capable of doing well. Let's hope we defeat Iceland tonight.

Reyes Aiming For Madrid Stay

José Antonio Reyes believes that it would not be a disaster if Real Madrid do not decide to make his loan move permanent at the end of the season.

The Spanish international is spending the season at the Bernabéu as part of an exchnage deal that saw Julio Baptista join Arsenal o a temporary basis.

Last summer Reyes made it clear that he did not want to remain in England and was given his wish to return to Spain.

During the current campaign, the 23-year-old has appeared regularly but has only completed five matches and doubts remain whether he will stay.

"If I do not end up staying then I will try to look for a solution and if I can stay then that would be much better," Reyes stated.

"It would not be a disaster if I do not though.

"I have been trying to prove myself since I arrived and now the end of the season is approaching and I have to show that I am worth keeping.

"But I am staying calm because the club has faith in me and I have faith in them and at the end of the season we an sit down and talk.

"I wanted to play here and now I have."

Whether he does stay or not, Reyes is intent on helping Madrid to win the league title this and has not given hope of catching the joint leaders FC Barcelona and his former club, Sevilla.

"We have eleven finals left and we have to win all of them," he explained.

"The team does not think about drawing or losing, we know in our minds that we have to win every match."
