Real Madrid Star Cristiano Ronaldo Offered €24 Million Deal By Nike

The sports giants have tabled an astounding sponsorship deal for the worlds' most expensive player...

Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a world-record sponsorship deal with Nike, according to reports by Spanish daily Marca.

The sports giants are offering Ronaldo a whopping €6 million per year until 2014, which adds up to €24m over the next four years. This would make Ronaldo go down in history as the world's best paid football player in terms of sponsorship deals.

The star winger had a previous contract for €4 million per season, but Nike are reported to have offered a new deal to fend off interest for their bitter German rivals, Adidas.

He was in London this afternoon promoting Nike's new football boot, the Mercurial Superfly Vapor II.

Ronaldo is already the world's highest paid football player, as he pockets an astonishing €13 million in wages per season, after tax, at Real Madrid.

Aside from Nike, Ronaldo is the new face of Italian fashion giants Giorgio Armani alongside Hollywood actress Megan Fox.

He is also a Global Ambassador for lubricant giants Castrol and does advertisements for Clear Shampoo.

Real Madrid spent €250 million on new 'Galacticos' last summer, but reported operating revenues of over €450 million later that year, making them the richest club in the world in that aspect.

The economic model pursued by club president Florentino Perez continues to reap huge financial benefits for the capital side, as Real Madrid own roughly 50% of Ronaldo's image rights.

Ronaldo could be re-United?

Cristiano Ronaldo may play for Manchester United again one day, saying: "Maybe in the future I could return."

The 25-year-old departed for Real Madrid in a world record £80million deal last summer after six seasons at Old Trafford, which yielded three Barclays Premier League titles, a Champions League crown and numerous other team and personal honours.

The move was long mooted, with Ronaldo's desire to play in Spain and the astronomical transfer fee eventually seeing the forward switch to the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo, who joined United for £12.24m from Sporting Lisbon aged 18, has made a strong start to his Real career, scoring 11 times in 13 Primera Division appearances - including two goals in last night's win over Xerez - and six times in four Champions League appearances.

But he may pull on a Red Devils shirt again.

"Of course I miss playing for Manchester United," Ronaldo said in The News of the World.

"I played there for six years and that's a long time.

"I am still interested in watching Manchester United and, you never know, maybe in the future I could return to play there.

"It's always possible."

Ronaldo has a long-term contract at Real which he plans to honour, but he stressed his fondness for Sir Alex Ferguson, his former United team-mates and the Old Trafford club.

"I want to fulfil my contract here but, in the future, only God knows," he added.

"I will not say I am not happy here at Real Madrid.

"I am really happy and everyone knows this is my club but, of course, I miss Manchester United, the boss, the players, because I left family there."
